This is just a thought and doesn’t solve all problems: Apple should provide something similar like TestFlight, but for apps that are notarised, that can be installed officially without having to go through the App Store. Still gives them control on what runs on iOS.

I question the wisdom of the app store nowadays, honestly. While it does provide a safe place for people to download stuff from, it also prohibits choice, which is also not good.
