You know that you have to find your ideal customer, but this often fells like you’re searching for a needle in a haystack. I get it. I’ve spent dozens of hours with sticky notes and filling out buyer persona templates doing all kinds of research.
\n\n\n\n68% of all customers now expect to have a personal experience! That’s great information to know. Actually, it’s obvious. That’s not the challenge. The real challenge is figuring out WHERE to invest your resources in creating that experience.
\n\n\n\nYou and I both know that it’s not the splashy stuff that has a choose a business to work with, often, it’s the smallest things. And, you’re not going to find the “small things” by just doing research online or doing surveys.
\n\n\n\nThere just had to be a better way – a more fun and engaging way to get closer to my ideal customer, really walk in their shoes and feel their feels.
\n\n\n\nThat’s what had me sit down and come up with 10 fun and engaging ways to research your ideal customer in a more tactile and experiential way.
\n\n\n\nLook, there are no shortcuts to anything that you want to do well. The experts make it look easy, but what you don’t see is all the behind the scenes work and effort.
\n\n\n\nI’m a huge fan of automation, but when it comes to anything related to customers and sales and connecting with customers in an engaging way – you gotta get your hands dirty with the data. That means doing things MANUALLY – no importing, no shortcuts.
\n\n\n\nYou see, doing things manually, the long way slows everything down and that gives your brain the ability to think and ponder. That’s exactly what you want. It eliminates the “garbage in, garbage out” phenomenon.
\n\n\n\nThere are hundreds, maybe thousands of ways to find your ideal customer. The problem with all of this is that they are — how should I say — BORING. I mean stick a fork in your eye boring and overwhelming.
\n\n\n\nYou need fun ways to find your ideal customer. You need ways to find your ideal customer that are experiential enough that you can internalize them and organically use them at will in your marketing.
\n\n\n\nSo, with that said, Ready to make the search a whole lot easier (and more fun)? Let’s jump in!
\n\n\n\nImagine a day in the life of your ideal customer from morning till night. Use your phone to record a video diary describing their day, focusing on their challenges, needs, and the moments they might interact with your product or service. This exercise helps you step into their shoes in a dynamic, visual way.
\n\n\n\nTo do this exercise means that you’ll have to embed yourself in their world. Instead of “take your kid to work” ask one of your favorite customers if you can tag along or spend the day with them. Here’s the fun part – you are NOT ALLOWED to interact, ask questions or anything, just be a fly on the wall, take pictures, etc.
\n\n\n\nOnce your day is over – go home and create a video of their day. Use any one of the available video editing tools. This will be a super-two-fer. You’ll get some practice creating videos AND you’ll
\n\n\n\nHere’s the fun part – go BACK to your customer, show them your storyboard and then have a conversation about it – ask questions, ask what was happening for them, oh, and don’t forget to ask if you perceived it correctly. Ask what was missing, what would make their day easier.
\n\n\n\nSpend a day taking photos of things your ideal customer might see in their daily life. This could include places they go, products they use, or people they interact with. Review the photos to gain insights into their environment, preferences, and lifestyle.
\n\n\n\nThis is a variation of the day in the life. What makes this different is that this isn’t a work thing. This is more of a personal thing. These days our work life and personal life are entwined, so it makes sense to see what’s happening in the background.
\n\n\n\nYou can also do this without your customer. Do this on your own and then share it with one or more of your favorite customers. See what you got right, what you got wrong, etc.
\n\n\n\nWrite a poem from the perspective of your ideal customer, focusing on their pain points, dreams, and aspirations. This creative exercise encourages empathy and a deeper emotional understanding of your customer’s experiences and how your business can address them.
\n\n\n\nI’m not a poet by any means, but this can be a really powerful verbal exercise. You can write any type of poem you like – try Haiku or be like Dr. Seuss.
\n\n\n\nI don’t need to tell you but you can use ChatGPT to help you get this done. Just remember to get started you’ll need material – you’ll need to have a list of points, pains, desired outcomes, etc. that your customer would have.
\n\n\n\nFill in the blanks with attributes relating to your ideal customer: If they were a car, they would be ___. If they were a book, they would be ___. If they were a city, they would be ___. This helps you think abstractly about their characteristics, values, and style.
\n\n\n\nYou can do this with just words, or you can take on the rockstar challenge and actually find pictures and images and create a poster board.
\n\n\n\nWrite a fictional testimonial from your ideal customer explaining how your product or service transformed their life. This activity forces you to focus on the benefits and outcomes that are most valuable to your target audience.
\n\n\n\nYou can take this up a notch by creating testimonials from customers you’d LOVE to have but currently don’t.
\n\n\n\nCreate a music playlist that your ideal customer would listen to. This can be based on their demographic, psychographics, or a specific scenario where they might use your product or service. Music can provide deep insights into a person’s mood, preferences, and cultural leanings.
\n\n\n\nYou can use this playlist as part of your motivation. Play it in the morning, play it during your workout or meditation.
\n\n\n\nSpend a day or an activity immersing yourself in something that your ideal customer loves or does regularly. This could be attending a fitness class, trying out a new hobby, or visiting a location.
\n\n\n\nReflect on the experience and how it relates to your product or service.
\n\n\n\nCreate a vision board (using physical cut-outs or a digital tool like Pinterest) that represents your ideal customer’s aspirations, dreams, and what they value most. This visual collage can help clarify who you are targeting and why they need your offering.
\n\n\n\nI’ve done a variation of this exercise by creating a magazine cover for my ideal customer. I went to a bookstore and stood in front of the magazine rack. Then I selected magazines that my ideal customer would read – on any topic.
\n\n\n\nThen I went through the magazines and cut out images, headlines, words, etc. and pasted them on a poster board. This was a terrific way to craft messaging and really understand what was important to my ideal customer.
\n\n\n\nRole-play an interview with your ideal customer, either by yourself or with a friend acting as the customer. Prepare questions to uncover their needs, frustrations, and lifestyle. This role-play can reveal new insights and solidify your understanding of your customer’s perspective.
\n\n\n\nUsing drawing or digital design tools, create a visualization of your ideal customer’s workspace or home space. Include items, decorations, and tools they use daily. This exercise helps you appreciate the physical environment and personal tastes of your target audience.
\n\n\n\nOne way to take this to a higher level is to imagine your ideal customer’s desk. What’s on their desk? What are they working on? What’s causing them frustration, etc. This is a terrific way to create messaging that will have them say “You get me!”
\n\n\n\nAnd there you have it—10 creative missions to help you uncover the goldmine that is your ideal customer. Remember, understanding your audience isn’t just a box to tick; it’s the cornerstone of your business strategy, shaping everything from your marketing messages to your product development.
\n\n\n\nAs you wrap up these activities, you’re not just walking away with a clearer picture of who you’re talking to. You’re stepping into a new phase of your business, one where your marketing feels like a conversation, not a shout into the void. Your products and services? They’ll start feeling like they were custom-made for your audience. And that’s because, in a way, they were.
\n\n\n\nSo, what’s the next step? Take these insights, these nuggets of gold you’ve unearthed, and let them guide your decisions. Keep the conversation with your ideal customer going—listen to them, learn from them, and let them know they’re heard. That’s how you turn a one-time buyer into a lifelong fan.
\nYou know that you have to find your ideal customer, but this often fells like you’re searching for a needle in a haystack. I get it. I’ve spent dozens of hours with sticky notes and filling out buyer persona templates doing all kinds of research.
\n\n\n\n68% of all customers now expect.
\n\n\n\nWondering how to elevate your multimedia presentation from good to great? An engaging multimedia presentation requires a tight integration of visuals, audio, and narrative to effectively communicate your message. In this guide, we’ll walk you through the essential steps to create a multimedia presentation that not only captures but also retains the audience’s attention, ensuring your key points make a lasting impact.
\n\n\n\nMultimedia presentations are powerful communication tools that combine various digital communication forms. Their messages are effectively conveyed through the seamless blending of text, images, audio, video, and animation. This helps engage the audience and enhance the overall impact of their communication. These presentations aim to captivate the audience, enhance understanding, and encourage interaction. But why does this matter? Well, the use of multimedia elements significantly enhances audience engagement and retention, and let’s face it, who wouldn’t want that?
\n\n\n\nTo effectively create multimedia presentations, understanding the role of different media forms in engaging audiences and how to achieve your desired outcome with multimedia is crucial. Let’s look at these aspects in detail.
\n\n\n\nDifferent media forms play a significant role in engaging audiences. The human brain processes visual information 60,000 times faster than text, hence visual aids in presentations enhance understanding and support conveyed messages. Audio and video elements can create an immersive experience, setting the mood, and aiding in audience retention.
\n\n\n\nInteractive elements such as quizzes and surveys engage the audience by providing them a sense of control and making the content more memorable. Additionally, virtual and augmented reality elements provide immersive experiences, transporting the audience to different environments.
\n\n\n\nIt’s not enough to just include multimedia elements in your presentation; you need to use them strategically to achieve your desired outcome. Setting a precise goal at the outset of a multimedia presentation ensures you can effectively inform, persuade, or entertain.
\n\n\n\nFor example, if your goal is to enhance understanding, you might use animations to explain a complex process. If your goal is to influence opinions, you might use video testimonials to add credibility. And if your goal is to provide entertainment, you might use interactive quizzes to keep the audience engaged.
\n\n\n\nCreating an engaging multimedia presentation starts long before you open your presentation software. It begins with defining the purpose of your presentation. What are your goals for your content? What do you hope to achieve with it? What’s the key message you want your audience to remember? Creating stunning multimedia presentations requires careful planning, attention to detail, and a healthy dose of creativity. These elements work together to captivate and engage the audience..
\n\n\n\nOnce you’ve defined the purpose and identified your key messages, outlining the main points and organizing the flow of the presentation is the next step. This involves crafting clear and concise text, selecting relevant multimedia elements, and strategically planning their placement. This process ensures that your multimedia presentation will stimulate multiple senses, aiding in better information retention.
\n\n\n\nThe core message is the crux of your presentation. It should be a concise sentence that summarizes the essence of your presentation. This core message directs the development of your content and makes it memorable. It answers the question: ‘If my audience doesn’t remember anything else, what is the one idea I want them to recall and repeat?’.
\n\n\n\nCrafting your presentation around a clear core message often requires an iterative process of creation and revision, where content that doesn’t support the core message may need to be omitted or the core message itself refined.
\n\n\n\nOnce you have a clear core message, you can start to select the multimedia elements that will reinforce this message. These elements should supplement the presentation’s main points, not distract from them, ensuring relevance, alignment, and clarity of the core message.
\n\n\n\nThis could be data visualizations to simplify complex information, or dynamic visuals and interactions to enhance audience participation. Remember, the aim is to enhance the audience’s understanding and engagement by aligning with the message and being of high quality.
\n\n\n\nA well-structured presentation with a compelling narrative captivates and retains audience attention. Crafting a presentation with a beginning, middle, and end creates a compelling narrative that captivates and retains audience attention. Introducing a set number of key points after the introduction helps audiences track the presentation’s progression.
\n\n\n\nEngaging the audience with strategic interactive elements keeps them involved and helps gauge their understanding. Moreover, thorough rehearsal of the multimedia presentation is essential for timing and streamlining transitions between elements.
\n\n\n\nNow that we understand the importance of multimedia presentations and how to craft them, let’s take a look at some multimedia presentation software tools to help us bring our ideas to life. While PowerPoint is a traditional tool, it has been criticized for not evolving substantially with its inability to provide dynamic, interactive content, videos, audio, and clickable elements, and lacks an analytics dashboard.
\n\n\n\nOn the other hand, modern tools like:
\n\n\n\noffer various features to create engaging multimedia presentations. Adobe Spark and Sway are specifically tailored for digital storytelling in educational settings, while My Mediasite focuses on video content management, showing a trend of niche-focused presentation software development. It’s essential to consider features, compatibility, user-friendliness, and the editing and sharing capabilities to fit the specific needs of your presentation and its audience.
\n\n\n\nWhen it comes to presentation software, it’s not one-size-fits-all. Each software has its strengths and weaknesses. For instance:
\n\n\n\nHence, understanding these features can help you pick the right tool for your needs.
\n\n\n\nInteractive features can take your presentation to the next level. They can be easily created without coding skills using customizable templates provided by interactive presentation software. Interactive presentations can feature elements like fillable forms, buttons, and hyperlinks to make content more engaging and navigable.
\n\n\n\nMoreover, compatibility with various devices, including mobile-friendly design and embedding interactive presentations into websites or blogs, ensures wider accessibility. Remember, always stay updated on new technologies to make your presentations more engaging.
\n\n\n\nWe’ve all heard the saying, “A picture is worth a thousand words.” In the case of multimedia presentations, this couldn’t be more accurate! Designing visually appealing multimedia content involves using animations, data visualization, and visual storytelling techniques. Incorporate white space in slide designs and use sans-serif fonts for enhanced readability and to maintain audience focus on the essential content.
\n\n\n\nAnimations can draw attention to key points, and integrating relevant multimedia elements such as images, videos, and infographics can make presentations more dynamic without overwhelming the audience. Remember, the key is to achieve a balance in slide design by evenly distributing visual elements, reducing clutter, and creating an overall aesthetically pleasing experience for the viewer.
\n\n\n\nSometimes, the best way to explain a complex concept is to show it. That’s where data visualization comes in. Using infographics, charts, and illustrations can simplify complex concepts by making them more visual and engaging.
\n\n\n\nInteractive elements like animated and interactive charts in presentations can convey complex data in a visually engaging and effective manner. Visual signposts, such as colors and icons, and staggered animations can help guide the audience through the presentation’s content, reducing cognitive overload.
\n\n\n\nStorytelling isn’t just for bedtime stories; it’s a powerful tool in presentations too! Incorporating stories within the presentation connects with the audience on an emotional level, making the content more memorable and relatable.
\n\n\n\nVisual storytelling requires clear messaging and definitive subject definition to ensure that the narrative is easily understood through images alone. Emotional engagement through storytelling techniques makes the content more impactful and leads to better memory retention among the audience.
\n\n\n\nAudiovisuals are the cherries on top of the presentation sundae. They add a dynamic element to presentations, making points more vivid and engaging compared to static images and text. Sound, including background music and sound effects, can be used thoughtfully in presentations to set the mood and reinforce the presentation’s content.
\n\n\n\nThe trick is to ensure these elements complement the presentation’s content without overshadowing it. For instance, background music should be smooth and unobtrusive, guiding the audience gently from one topic to the next. Video clips should be succinct, preferably not exceeding a duration of 3 minutes, and contribute to the audience’s comprehension of the complex ideas being presented.
\n\n\n\nBackground music and sound effects can add a whole new dimension to your presentation. They should be used as tools to:
\n\n\n\nEnsure they complement but do not overshadow the presentation’s primary content.
\n\n\n\nShort soundtrack clips can be effectively used to signal the importance of upcoming slides, adding an auditory cue to emphasize key points. Remember, the use of music clips in multimedia presentations is to enhance the presentation’s effectiveness without overwhelming or distracting from the content.
\n\n\n\nVideo clips are a powerful tool in the arsenal of multimedia presentations. Using a conversational tone in video narration makes the content more engaging and personal, which enhances the viewer’s learning experience. To ensure all audience members can benefit from video content, it is crucial to make videos accessible by providing captions or scripts.
\n\n\n\nRemember, maintaining audience attention is essential, and video clips should be succinct, preferably not exceeding a duration of 3 minutes.
\n\n\n\nSo, you’ve created a stunning multimedia presentation. Great! Now it’s time to deliver it. Confidence is key in multimedia presentations as it bolsters audience engagement and ensures the message is communicated effectively. This involves maintaining eye contact and using an upbeat tone before the presentation to create a positive, energetic atmosphere.
\n\n\n\nRegular practice and focusing on challenging parts of the speech can help improve presentation delivery. Also, handling technical aspects smoothly is a crucial part of a successful presentation delivery. Testing multimedia elements for compatibility and functionality ensures seamless presentation delivery.
\n\n\n\nWe’ve all heard the saying, “Practice makes perfect.” This couldn’t be more true for delivering a multimedia presentation. It is recommended to schedule presentation practice time starting at least two weeks before the planned delivery date. Focus on practicing challenging parts of the speech rather than rehearsing the entire presentation every time.
\n\n\n\nAdditionally, practicing in front of colleagues with public speaking experience can provide valuable feedback before the final delivery.
\n\n\n\nEven the best-laid plans can go awry, especially when technology is involved. Before presenting, make sure to:
\n\n\n\nRemember, preparation is key to prevent last-minute technical issues.
\n\n\n\nAfter all the theory, it’s time to see some real-world examples of successful multimedia presentations. These showcase innovative techniques and strategies for engaging audiences and achieving desired outcomes. The brand Red Bull is associated with multimedia presentations that have effectively conveyed their messages and secured engagement through innovative approaches.
\n\n\n\nCase studies of attention-grabbing and creative multimedia presentations are showcased in Prezi’s Gallery, serving as sources of inspiration. Innovative techniques such as gamified demos and immersive VR training illustrate successful engagement and improved understanding in a business context.
\n\n\n\nEducational presentations can utilize multimedia elements to simplify complex ideas, such as the Earth Day timeline presentation that incorporates various media forms.
\n\n\n\nIn the world of business, a compelling multimedia presentation, including video presentation, can be the difference between a signed contract and a missed opportunity. To create stunning multimedia presentations, Salesforce developed a custom-built, interactive 3D virtual office demo with gamified interactions that significantly enhanced client engagement and purchase intent, resulting in a professional and engaging presentation. Unilever switched from traditional reports to an enhanced multimedia presentation featuring rich infographics and animations to convey their commitment to sustainability.
\n\n\n\nThese are just a few multimedia presentation examples of how multimedia presentations, including informative presentations, can make a significant impact in the business world.
\n\n\n\nIn the educational sector, multimedia presentations play a pivotal role in enhancing learning experiences. Some key benefits of multimedia presentations in education include:
\n\n\n\nEffective multimedia presentations contribute to a more dynamic and effective learning environment, and achieving a perfect multimedia presentation can make a significant impact.
\n\n\n\nSharing anecdotes, real-world examples, or case studies within multimedia presentations humanizes the content and illustrates points effectively.
\n\n\n\nIn the end, creating a compelling multimedia presentation is not just about flashy visuals or catchy music. It’s about conveying your message effectively and engaging your audience. It’s about using the right tools, and most importantly, it’s about practicing and delivering your presentation with confidence. So, ready to create a multimedia presentation that leaves a lasting impression?

So, while all PowerPoint presentations are multimedia presentations, not all multimedia presentations are made using PowerPoint.
\n\n\n\nYes, Microsoft PowerPoint is a multimedia program that uses slides to convey information rich in multimedia elements.

There’s a marketing myth out there that you don’t want to have any competition. Not so. For entrepreneurs, no competition typicaly means no demand. But competition and differentiation (or standing out from the competition) are not at all the same thing.
\n\n\n\nIn the competitive hustle, the businesses that stand out are those that offer something more, something unique. You know differentiation is key, but how do you achieve it? This guide provides 10 straightforward strategies to differentiate your business effectively. From the nuances of audience understanding to the clarity of a Unique Selling Proposition, we’ll equip you with the insights needed to capture attention and cement your business in the marketplace.
\n\n\n\nKnowing who you’re speaking to is the cornerstone of any successful business. It’s like having a secret key that unlocks the door to your target audience’s hearts and minds. By understanding your audience’s demographics, preferences, and pain points, you can tailor your offerings and marketing strategies to fit their needs like a glove. And guess what? This not only helps you meet your customer expectations but also gives you a competitive edge!
\n\n\n\nDiving into demographics is like putting on a pair of magic glasses. They help you see who your audience truly is. Age, gender, location, language, financial capability- all these factors come into play. They shape how you should communicate with your audience.
\n\n\n\nFor instance, a millennial in New York might prefer a quick chat over social media while a retiree in Florida might appreciate a friendly phone call. So, take time to understand your audience’s demographics. It’s more than just data; it’s a roadmap to effective communication and pricing strategies.
\n\n\n\nKnowing your audience’s preferences is like having a compass in a forest; it guides your marketing efforts in the right direction. By segmenting your customer base and understanding their shopping habits or product feature preferences, you can align your services with their needs. But how do you uncover these preferences? The answer lies in data. Feedback, surveys, CRM systems – all of these can offer valuable insights into the hearts and minds of your customers.
\n\n\n\nAnd when you know what your customers want, you’re one step closer to winning their loyalty, gaining satisfied customers, and staying ahead of the competition.
\n\n\n\nImagine if you could solve the problems your customers are facing. That’s the power of identifying customer pain points. From minor inconveniences to major hurdles, these pain points shape their journey with your product or service. And the first step to addressing them? Understanding them. By gleaning insights from prospects, current customers, and even those who’ve chosen competitors, you can uncover trends and gaps.
\n\n\n\nThese gaps are your golden opportunities for innovation. So, start listening to your customers’ pain points. They might just lead you to your next breakthrough.
\n\n\n\nIn the sea of businesses, how can you make yours stand out? The answer lies in your Unique Selling Proposition (USP). It’s your business’s superhero. It conveys your offers and differentiators, telling potential customers why they should choose you over others. But crafting a USP isn’t as simple as picking a catchy slogan. It requires a deep dive into the market and competition analysis, brainstorming sessions, and gathering insights from customers.
\n\n\n\nAnd once you have your USP, make sure to shout it from the rooftops! Ensure it’s consistently communicated in your marketing materials. Remember, a well-crafted USP can make your business memorable and credible, giving you a winning edge.
\n\n\n\nCreating a USP is like forging a sword; it needs precision and strategy. Here are the steps to follow:
\n\n\n\nA competitive analysis can shed light on your company’s unique ‘why’ that sets it apart. And once your USP is ready, let it guide all your marketing decisions, from branding to product development, to ensure a cohesive and compelling message.
\n\n\n\nOnce you’ve crafted your USP, it’s time to let it shine in all your marketing efforts. From your branding to your style guides, copywriting to product development, your USP should be the star of the show. Train your team to understand and effectively communicate the USP to potential customers.
\n\n\n\nRemember, consistency is key. The USP should guide all your marketing decisions and be consistently used in your branding. This way, you’ll reinforce your business’s unique identity in the market and make your USP truly unforgettable.
\n\n\n\nIf your business was a ship, then customer service would be its steering wheel. Exceptional customer service builds trust with customers, enhances their satisfaction, and fosters loyalty. In markets where products and prices can be similar, your customer service can become a critical point of distinction. It shows your customers that you’re deeply committed to personalized care, responsiveness, and solving their problems.

Calling all introverts! You know who you are. If you dread the idea of going to networking events, walking up to people you don’t know and starting conversations — this is for you.
\n\n\n\nFrom one-on-one connections to online networking mastery, we’ve got actionable tips that cater specifically to your strengths. Networking for introverts doesn’t have to mean changing who you are; it means enhancing the way you connect.
\n\n\n\nEnvision a networking environment where you don’t have to compete for attention with extroverted individuals. As an introvert, your unique skill set can transform you into a networking dynamo. You’re not socially awkward; you’re selectively social, and that’s a strength. The key is to embrace your introverted nature and find ways to network that align with your energy levels and comfort zone.
\n\n\n\nThe goal is to establish meaningful connections that align with your style, rather than following the playbook of extroverted marketers. By doing so, you’ll not only feel more comfortable connecting with others but also form stronger, more genuine meaningful relationships.
\n\n\n\nWhile extroverts may thrive on the energy of large crowds, introverts tend to shine in the subtler art of one-on-one conversations. Your inclination to listen intently and observe before speaking gives you the edge in crafting conversations that matter, especially with other introverts. Each word you choose carries weight, making your social interactions rich and impactful. Being good listeners isn’t the priority; resonating with others is the goal.
\n\n\n\nThis is your back door into the networking arena, where the depth of the connection trumps the volume of the chatter.
\n\n\n\nNetworking needn’t be a hasty exchange of business cards at a busy event. Start small, in environments where you feel at ease. Some tips for effective networking include:
\n\n\n\nThis way, you’re not draining your energy; you’re investing it wisely.
\n\n\n\nFurthermore, by reaching out to people in advance through event messaging systems, you can set the stage for meaningful interactions. This proactive approach reduces anxiety and allows you to engage in one-on-one or small group situations that play to your strengths. And don’t forget to take those much-needed breaks. Step outside for some fresh air or enjoy a quiet cup of coffee alone. Emphasize quality networking over volume; that’s where you as an introvert will truly shine. By implementing these introverts techniques, you can make the most out of your networking experiences.
\n\n\n\nThe ambiance of a networking space can make all the difference. Imagine a room with:
\n\n\n\nBy fostering small group opportunities and designated quiet zones, you can navigate the social landscape in a way that feels organic and unforced, while also enjoying some alone time.
\n\n\n\nThe aim is to transform networking into an experience that respects your preference for solitude while still unlocking new professional opportunities through a reliable service provider.
\n\n\n\nWhen it comes to networking, think of it as an art form where the canvas is the intimate space between two people. For introverts, this is where the magic happens. One-on-one networking allows you to dive deep into meaningful conversations that might be skimmed over in larger groups. The focus is on nurturing authentic connections that have potential to evolve into professional opportunities.
\n\n\n\nThis strategic, intentional approach is where you thrive, selecting individuals to interact with who align with your networking goals and preferring the richness of a detailed dialogue over the superficiality of small talk.
\n\n\n\nHave you ever noticed how the most memorable conversations at a networking event are often those that occur in a quiet corner, away from the crowd? This is where introverts excel. You may not meet as many people as the social butterfly who flits from group to group, but the connections you do make are likely to be more profound and enduring. It’s the big difference a few quality interactions can make, setting the stage for real collaboration and growth.
\n\n\n\nFocusing on building a few significant relationships plays into your strengths and helps you carve out your niche in the networking world.
\n\n\n\nPreparation is the introvert’s secret weapon. By researching events, speakers, and attendees beforehand, you can arm yourself with conversation starters and questions that align with your interests, making interactions more comfortable and productive. Setting goals and knowing what to expect can dramatically reduce anxiety and enable you to navigate the event with confidence.
\n\n\n\nStay informed on industry news and trends; these topics provide a common ground for conversation and showcase your expertise, helping you to realize the full potential of each networking opportunity.
\n\n\n\nThe real art of networking unfolds after the event, in the thoughtful follow-up. For introverts, this is where you can truly shine. Personalize your communications by recalling specific details from your conversations; it shows that you value the connection and are interested in deepening the relationship.
\n\n\n\nWhether it’s through email or LinkedIn, these follow-ups are your chance to nurture the seeds planted during those one-on-one interactions into flourishing professional relationships. And remember, sometimes the most impactful deals and partnerships are not sealed with a handshake at a noisy event but forged in the quiet of a well-crafted follow-up message.
\n\n\n\nIn the digital age, the networking landscape has expanded beyond the walls of conference rooms to the vast expanse of the internet. Virtual networking events offer a comfortable environment for introverts, providing the freedom to connect at your own pace without the sensory overload of in-person events. Networking from the comfort of your home is not merely convenient; it also empowers you. You can take the time to craft thoughtful messages, book one-on-one chats, and engage in micro-networking that doesn’t feel overwhelming.
\n\n\n\nBut virtual events also make it easy to hide and lurk in the background. And that’s not the point. On the plus side, you don’t have to go out of your home or office, but on the other hand, you’ll also have to learn some new behaviors so that you get the most out of your virtual networking events.
\n\n\n\nThe virtual realm comes with its own set of etiquettes, and for introverts, mastering these can be a game-changer.
\n\n\n\nHere are some tips:
\n\n\n\nKeep in mind, comfort with silence is a virtue; it creates room for others to express their thoughts and ensures your voice is heard and valued when you do speak.
\n\n\n\nHere are a few more actions you can take to make you more successful with virtual networking events:
\n\n\n\nThe hardest thing about networking as an introvert is “breaking the ice” — but there are a few things you can do BEFORE you ever talk to anyone to make this infinitely easier in building relationships whether your networking online or offline.
\n\n\n\nYour online profile is your digital handshake, the first impression you make in the virtual networking world. Make sure it reflects your ability to engage in deep, meaningful conversations. Use your profile to showcase your expertise and ask open-ended questions that invite engagement.
\n\n\n\nShare your insights on industry trends, participate in professional groups, and engage with influencers’ content. This way, you’ll create a presence that draws people in and fosters connections that go beyond surface-level interactions.
\n\n\n\nHere are a few more tips you can try:
\n\n\n\nI love these ideas because you can take all the time you need, all by yourself to prepare these things ahead of time. So when you get into any kind of networking event, you will have practiced and prepared with simple things you can do without really thinking.
\n\n\n\nBreakout rooms are the virtual equivalent of those small, intimate networking sessions that introverts favor. In these smaller, themed rooms, you can engage in deeper discussions with a handful of people who share your interests. It’s a less intimidating setting, one where you can voice your ideas without the pressure of a large audience.
\n\n\n\nPlus, knowing what to expect in these breakout activities can ease your nerves and help you prepare to contribute meaningfully.
\n\n\n\nWho says networking has to happen in a certain way? Introverts have the upper hand when it comes to alternative networking strategies that circumvent the traditional meet-and-greet formula. Here are some alternative networking strategies for introverts:
\n\n\n\nThese strategies allow you to build your network in a manner that feels authentic and manageable.
\n\n\n\nThese methods play to your strengths, allowing you to connect with others without the stress of spontaneous interactions.
\n\n\n\nContent marketing is a realm where introverts can truly thrive. By creating valuable content that resonates with your audience, you establish yourself as an authority in your field. Whether it’s through blogging, podcasting, or sharing insights on social media, your thought leadership can grow your network organically.
\n\n\n\nFocus on educational, resonating, and sales-centered content to build connections, establish trust, and showcase your expertise.
\n\n\n\nHere are some simple, practical ways to leverage your content to build relationships:
\n\n\n\nSocial media is a powerful tool for networking, especially for introverts. You can manage your presence and engage with your network at your own pace. Use Instagram Stories to share tips and personal stories, and interact with your followers through polls and captions.
\n\n\n\nAuthenticity resonates, so don’t be afraid to share your journey, including the discomforts. It’s these real, relatable moments that will endear you to your audience and attract like-minded professionals.
\n\n\n\nLooking for some ideas? Check these out
\n\n\n\nUuuugh — the LIVE networking event. I don’t know about you, but the instant I walk into a conference or room and see groups of people chatting it up, I completely freeze up. I get this kind of sick feeling in my stomach – a sort of “run away” feeling that I instantly have to acknowledge and put aside.
\n\n\n\nSo, while some people just dive in, I’ve learned a few tips and tricks that really help me start networking without retreating to the wall, a corner, or my hotel room.
\n\n\n\nAs an introvert, I have a lot of stories about how people will act at a conference — and most of them are completely wrong and simply false.
\n\n\n\nOne day as I was standing at the entrance to a networking event I noticed that I was having this “fear” reaction. And when I took a minute to think about what I was afraid of, the answer that came to me was — “If I walk up to someone and start talking to them, they are going to turn around and walk away, ignore me, or …any number or uncomfortable things.”
\n\n\n\nThat’s when I asked myself about how likely that was to happen. And that’s when it hit me — this is a NETWORKING event! It’s not middle school. People are here to connect and meet new people!
\n\n\n\nThis was a transformative realization. So whenever I feel afraid of how people will react, I ask myself “What’s the worst thing they can do? Walk away? Punch me in the nose?” Of course not. And then I feel much better.
\n\n\n\nWith the fear of walking up to someone set aside for the moment, the next obstacle is “What am I going to say to these people?”
\n\n\n\nThe good news is — I’m not going to SAY anything. I’m going to ASK a question.
\n\n\n\nI like to have about three easy-to-remember icebreaker questions ready for any interaction. The first thing I do is find someone who is standing or sitting alone. And then I grab one of these questions and ask them.
\n\n\n\nAs an introvert, your observational skills are your secret weapon at public networking events. By watching group dynamics and body language, you can discern the right moment to join a conversation or approach someone for a one-on-one chat. This careful study not only helps you find your tribe but also ensures that when you do engage, it’s with people who are more likely to resonate with your communication style and interests.
\n\n\n\nIn other words, your observational skills will help you ask much better questions because while others are chit chatting, you are observing and noticing details about the speaker, the conference, etc. And that means that you’re going to have even MORE, better questions to ask people in between sessions.
\n\n\n\nNever underestimate the power of a strategic intermission. Taking breaks during networking events is essential for introverts to recharge and maintain their energy levels for social interactions.
\n\n\n\nPlan your event attendance around key sessions, allowing natural breaks to refresh without missing out on important moments. And don’t hesitate to exit when you start to feel overwhelmed; it’s better to leave on a high note than to let your energy wane.
\n\n\n\nSmall group opportunities at networking events are like finding an oasis in the desert. These intimate settings allow for meaningful engagement without the overstimulation of large groups. Look for themed breakout sessions or Birds of a Feather meetings that align with your interests.
\n\n\n\nThis focused approach not only makes networking less overwhelming but also fosters deeper conversations and more substantial connections.
\n\n\n\nFor introverted networkers, personal branding involves strategically highlighting your unique value proposition without draining your energy reserves. It’s about automating your communication to maintain an online presence that aligns with your introverted nature while still effectively reaching your network.
\n\n\n\nBy setting up scheduled emails and social media posts, you can engage with your audience during periods when you feel most energized and prepared.
\n\n\n\nThe cornerstone of your personal brand is your unique value proposition. As an introvert, take the time to reflect on your strengths—be it problem-solving, thought leadership, or technical mastery—and articulate these in a way that resonates with your professional community.
\n\n\n\nThis introspection allows you to craft a brand statement that is authentic and impactful, setting you apart in your field.
\n\n\n\nYour story is what makes you unique, and telling it well can transform your networking efforts. As an introvert, you might prefer writing to speaking, but either way, structured storytelling techniques can help you convey your journey in an engaging and relatable manner. Whether you’re using the Hero’s Journey framework or the Past, Present, Future structure, your narrative will resonate more deeply than facts alone.
\n\n\n\nPractice your storytelling in comfortable settings to gain confidence; your authentic voice will naturally draw others in and make your interactions memorable.

This is the week that the world shut down in 2020. We skipped April Fools that year, and the following year, and, I don’t know. I’ve lost track of what’s happened to April Fools – because so many crazy things are actually happening, most consumers can’t tell when something is an April Fool’s joke and we simply can’t handle it.
\n\n\n\nBut I think that this year, April Fools is on the marketing menu. So I thought I’d at least get your creative juices flowing with a few April Fools marketing ideas.
\n\n\n\nUsing humor in your marketing is a double edged sword. On the one hand, people love it, it’s fun to do, and it can build your brand without spending a lot of money.
\n\n\n\nOn the other hand — humor can really be dangerous. These days, it’s not that hard to offend someone in your audience.
\n\n\n\nBut that doesn’t mean that you should avoid humor all together. I think it helps to understand how humor works, your unique style and tone of humor and to find that place where humor does what it’s supposed to do — bring a smile to everyone’s face.
\n\n\n\nDo you remember the last time you laughed at a marketing campaign? Chances are, you do. That’s because humor has a powerful psychological effect on us. It not only makes us feel good, but it also makes the brand more memorable. In fact, 90% of consumers recall ads that made them laugh.
\n\n\n\nWith a large number of consumers seeking experiences that elicit laughter and smiles, a humorous campaign can be a great way to make your brand stand out and stay top-of-mind. So, how about making your customers laugh with your next April Fool’s campaign?
\n\n\n\nThere’s a catch, though – while marketing with humor can be an effective tool, it needs to be handled with care. It’s crucial to strike a balance between being funny and maintaining professionalism. You want to make your customers laugh, but not at the expense of your brand’s image. That’s where the art of balancing humor with professionalism comes into play.
\n\n\n\nIf you steer clear of crude jokes, sensitive topics, and ensure your humor aligns with your marketing materials, you’ll create a campaign that’s funny and remains consistent with your brand. Remember, your April Fool’s joke is a reflection of your brand’s personality – so make it count!
\n\n\n\nHaving covered the basics, it’s time to move to the exciting part – the fun ideas! April Fools’ Day is a goldmine of opportunity for brands to showcase their creativity. Here are some ideas to consider:
\n\n\n\nBut it’s not just about playing pranks; it’s about creating memorable experiences that engage and delight customers.
\n\n\n\nWe’ll explore ten ingenious April Fool’s marketing ideas that can help you stand out amidst the sea of pranks and practical jokes, making this year’s April Fool’s marketing ideas campaign truly memorable by incorporating conventional and fun ideas.
\n\n\n\nImagine launching a product that’s so outrageous, it’s hard to believe it’s real. That’s the power of fake product launches. A well-executed fake product launch can create significant buzz around your brand by captivating the audience with a mix of creativity and surprise.
\n\n\n\nI found this April Fool’s marketing gag from Tinder that’s really effective — the idea to ban “fish pics”.
\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nI’m not on Tinder (and have never been) but I have heard that men posting fish pics is a “thing”. If you’re on Tinder, you know it’s a thing. But, here’s the best part — it’s fairly innocuous. It’s not offensive, it’s just a pattern that everyone has noticed, and hence is worthy of spoofing.
\n\n\n\nWhen planning your next April Fool’s campaign, you might want to consider a fake product launch. Just remember to keep it clean, fun, and kind and remember to reveal the truth before the end of the day to keep the April Fool’s spirit alive!
\n\n\n\nCollaborations can be a powerful marketing tool. But on April Fools’ Day, they can be a source of great amusement. Announcing surprising partnerships as an April Fools joke can create memorable marketing moments.
\n\n\n\nHere are a few ideas:
\n\n\n\nSocial media has become an integral part of our lives, making it a perfect platform for April Fools’ pranks. A well-crafted social media prank can create a viral loop around your product, significantly boosting awareness due to the sharing nature of social platforms.
\n\n\n\nHere are a few ideas
\n\n\n\nIf there’s one thing that’s sure to engage customers, it’s interactive games or challenges. They’re not just fun; they also provide a memorable brand experience. And when you tie these games or challenges with April Fools’ Day, you have a recipe for success. They can be a clever way to promote new products or bring attention back to existing ones. Plus, they can help you gather valuable customer data and insights.
\n\n\n\nWho doesn’t love a good parody? Especially when it’s a parody advertisement! A well-crafted spoof of a competitor’s product or an industry trend can engage audiences and create a buzz around your brand.
\n\n\n\nRebranding is a serious business. But on April Fools’ Day, it can be a source of great amusement. Announcing a fake rebrand or logo change can be an effective April Fools’ prank that engages your audience and creates buzz around your brand.
\n\n\n\nThe key is to make your rebranding hoax surprising and bold, capturing the audience’s attention and interest. And remember to reveal the truth before the end of the day to ensure the audience appreciates the humor without feeling deceived.
\n\n\n\nShowing appreciation to your customers is always a good idea. But on April Fools’ Day, it can be an opportunity to delight them with unexpected treats such as a surprise discount at checkout or a complimentary offering.
\n\n\n\nApril Fool’s marketing doesn’t have to be complicated, you can create all kinds of humorous content to put a smile on your customer’s face.
\n\n\n\nWho doesn’t love a good deal? Especially when it’s so outrageous, it’s hard to believe it’s real. Offering a deal that seems ‘too good to be true’ can pique consumers’ curiosity and grab their attention immediately. But remember, it’s not just about making a bold offer. It’s about delivering a playful twist that aligns with the spirit of April Fools’ Day.
\n\n\n\nIn the world of April Fools’ Day pranks, there’s nothing like a good twist. And that’s where reverse pranks come in. Instead of playing a prank on your customers, why not surprise them with something real? Like BMW’s genuine offer of a new car on April Fools’ Day. It defied expectations and created buzz, proving that sometimes, the best pranks are the ones that turn out to be real.
\n\n\n\nTo inspire your upcoming April Fools’ Day campaign, let’s examine some successful examples. From Google’s annual pranks and Burger King’s Whopper Toothpaste to Amazon’s Audible for Fish, these campaigns showcase how creativity and humor can engage audiences and generate buzz.
\n\n\n\nThese brands have skillfully used April Fools’ Day to create memorable experiences and make their customers laugh. Let’s delve into their strategies and learn from the best.
\n\n\n\nWhen it comes to April Fools’ Day pranks, Google is a master. From its first April Fools’ Day hoax in 2000 – the MentalPlex, which claimed to read users’ minds – to the Google Maps 8-bit version for the NES in 2012, Google’s pranks are consistently creative and humorous.
\n\n\n\nSome of Google’s notable April Fools’ Day pranks include:
\n\n\n\nThese pranks not only entertain audiences but also reinforce Google’s image as an innovative and playful brand.
\n\n\n\nWhen planning your upcoming April Fools’ campaign, consider borrowing a leaf from Google’s book.
\n\n\n\nBurger King is another brand that’s no stranger to April Fools’ Day pranks. One of its most memorable pranks is the Whopper Toothpaste campaign. In partnership with agency Buzzman, Burger King launched a full commercial for a toothpaste that supposedly included ‘active Whopper extracts’ for optimal teeth and gum hygiene. The campaign was a hit, showcasing the brand’s creativity and engaging audiences with a unique and humorous product.
\n\n\n\nLast but not least, let’s take a look at Amazon’s Audible for Fish campaign. This campaign humorously targeted pet fish owners, promising to ease their pets’ loneliness with an audiobook collection. It’s a perfect example of how a brand can engage audiences with unique and playful marketing ideas.
\n\n\n\nFor your upcoming April Fools’ campaign, consider thinking outside the box and targeting a niche target audience. It might turn out to be a big hit!
\n\n\n\nWith your creative juices flowing, you’re all set to plan your April Fools’ Day campaign. But before you start, here are a few tips to aid you in crafting a successful campaign:
\n\n\n\nThese tips will guide you on your journey to creating a successful April Fools’ Day campaign.
\n\n\n\nLet’s get the ball rolling!
\n\n\n\nThe first step in crafting a winning April Fools’ Day campaign is to know your audience. Understand their demographics and psychographics to create a campaign that will resonate with them and delight them without causing offense. By segmenting your email list based on customer preferences and previous engagement, you can tailor the tone and content of your campaign to match their preferences, minimizing the risk of backlash.
\n\n\n\nUltimately, a successful April Fools’ Day campaign hinges on making your customers laugh and creating a positive brand experience.
\n\n\n\nWhile it’s important to be creative and humorous in your April Fools’ Day campaign, it’s equally important to stay true to your brand. Your campaign should be a natural extension of your brand’s existing voice and image, not a departure from it. By integrating your brand’s core values and message into your campaign, you can reinforce your brand identity while engaging in humor.
\n\n\n\nBear in mind, your April Fools’ joke mirrors your brand’s image – so make it worthwhile!
\n\n\n\nNow, let’s talk about planning and execution. An effective April Fools’ Day campaign requires careful planning and flawless execution. You need to:
\n\n\n\nEvery aspect of your April Fool’s campaign, from website features to email subject lines, should imbibe the spirit of April Fools’ Day while upholding your brand values and considering the impact of April Fool’s Day campaigns.
\n\n\n\nLast but not least, monitor and respond. Keep an eye on customer reactions throughout your campaign to measure engagement and sentiment. Implementing a real time marketing strategy will help you stay prepared for any confusion or negative feedback, allowing you to respond promptly.
\n\n\n\nUpholding a positive brand image and customer experience is as critical as crafting a humorous campaign. Stay vigilant and be prepared to adjust as necessary.
\n\n\n\nWell, there you have it – the art and science of crafting a winning April Fools’ Day marketing campaign. From understanding the power of humor in marketing and exploring ingenious marketing ideas to learning from successful campaigns and crafting your own, we’ve covered a lot of ground. Remember, the key to a successful April Fools’ Day campaign is to make your customers laugh while staying true to your brand. So, go ahead, let your creativity shine, and make this April Fools’ Day one to remember!
\n\n\n\nSome successful April Fools’ Day marketing campaigns to consider are Google’s MentalPlex and Google Maps 8-bit version for NES, Burger King’s Whopper Toothpaste, and Amazon’s Audible for Fish. These campaigns effectively combined creativity and humor to engage audiences and generate buzz.
\n\n\n\nTo use humor effectively in marketing, understand your audience, integrate your brand’s message, and monitor customer reactions for any confusion or negative feedback. Keep your campaign aligned with your brand’s core values and message. And remember to respond promptly to customer feedback.
\n\n\n\nWhen using humor in marketing, it’s important to avoid sensitive or controversial content, ensure the humor complements your message, and not go overboard to protect your brand’s reputation.
\n\n\n\nTo make your April Fools’ Day campaign stand out, focus on being unique and creative, staying true to your brand, knowing your audience, planning and executing carefully, and incorporating humor into your campaign for a more memorable and engaging experience. Good luck with your campaign!

One of the key advantages of iMovie is the absence of ads and watermarks, which is particularly appreciated by content creators who aim to maintain a professional appearance in their videos.

\n\n\n\nEase of use and the learning curve of the app are critical. Look for software with templates, auto modes, and accessible tutorials to streamline the video editing process. Also, consider the content libraries of a video editing app. A good variety of stickers, graphics, special effects, type fonts, sounds, and music that match your style and project needs can make all the difference.
\n\n\n\nLastly, budget considerations are important. While free options may have limitations, professional-grade software can be expensive and include unnecessary features for YouTube content creation. Before making a purchase, trying out the free version of a video editing app can help determine if it meets your requirements.
\n\n\n\nThe ideal YouTube editing app ultimately depends on what aligns with your preferred working style. How many YouTube videos are you going to be making? If video is a big part of what you do, you’ll need to get very good at it, and a YouTube create app might be the perfect solution for you.
\n\n\n\nThe app interface should be intuitive, with a timeline that clearly indicates how to add the following materials effectively:
\n\n\n\nMoreover, the app should be compatible across different devices and offer seamless cross-device use.
\n\n\n\nLastly, consider the quality of customer support and the availability of tutorials or educational resources. A dedicated YouTube channel or third-party tutorial videos for the app can ensure there is adequate instructional support for learning how to use it effectively.
\n\n\n\nIn conclusion, choosing the best app to edit YouTube videos for beginners comes down to understanding your specific needs and preferences. It’s been a while since I’ve seen some simplified counterintuitive marketing advice and so I thought I’d get out there and create a list of the best marketing advice I’ve heard.
\n\n\n\nIt’s not in any order, it’s just stuff I’ve heard over the years that just makes sense for today’s bootstrapping, value-driven entrepreneurs.
\n\n\n\nI’m going to start with this one because it’s something I have to say to myself over and over and over again, every single day. I started my marketing career in the 80’s when doing any type of marketing activity was EXPENSIVE!!! So yeah, making mistakes was a no no and could often cost you tens of thousands of dollars and a room full of printed marketing materials with the wrong spelling or name or something. Been there done that, and once you’ve felt that pain, you never want to go back. So the pull to wait and analyze and fix and triple check is very strong.
\n\n\n\nYou don’t have to do that anymore, because we are mostly digital and you can launch something digitally and fix it in seconds and keep tweaking until you get it right. Then if you want to you can hit the real world knowing you’ve got something.
\n\n\n\nI know a lot of folks who are hiding behind tech and hiding behind some kind of obstacle because they don’t want to launch and sell something.
\n\n\n\nThis is only hurting you – launch and learn. That’s your fastest path to success, get your offer out there, iterate, tweak and make changes until you get it right.
\n\n\n\nYou know how every marketer tells you to choose an ideal customer? It’s because of this seemingly counterintuitive little law of marketing. It doesn’t seem to make sense but once you think it through, you’ll see that it makes complete sense.
\n\n\n\nEveryone is different and cares about different things. But if you try to reach everyone, you’ll have to dilute your messaging to the lowest common denominator and that means that it won’t appeal to anyone. And this will reduce your engagement and conversions.
\n\n\n\nSo yeah, the more targeted you are, the more clients you will attract with a high-value offer.
\n\n\n\nOh, I love this one. If you’ve ever been on a sales call where the customer is asking for a lower price, that tells you right there that they aren’t connecting with the value that you provide.
\n\n\n\nYou want your customers to choose you at virtually any price because the value that you offer is exactly what they want.
\n\n\n\nFor example, I used to pay $99 per month for a social media scheduling software because it had a very specific social media campaign feature that no other software had. When I started using that software it was $15 per month, they kept adding features (that I never used) but to get the feature I wanted, I had to pay more. And I did. Year after year, after year, until I couldn’t get that feature any more. THAT is when I canceled.
\n\n\n\nYou have to know your customer well enough to provide them that ONE thing they value the most that they can’t get anywhere.
\n\n\n\nI learned this piece of counterintuitive marketing advice from an executive coach and it’s brilliant. Of course, she didn’t mean that you shouldn’t generate revenue, she meant that you should stop FOCUSING on selling and, instead, focus on helping your customer get to their desired outcome.
\n\n\n\nIn other words, the goal isn’t to “sell”, it’s to give your customer what they want.
\n\n\n\nIt’s tempting to think that what your customers want (or needs) is what you’re selling and that is the idea, but the reason prospects push back on buying is because they feel like they are being pushed or manipulated into buying. OH, and the reason you detest the idea of selling is because (admit it) you feel that way too.
\n\n\n\nBut, if you promise yourself that you aren’t going to “sell” and instead you’re going to have conversations you feel excited about that help you prospect achieve their desired outcome, the logical byproduct or this (assuming you’ve done your research and identified an ideal customer) is that they will want what you’re selling.
\n\n\n\nWhenever someone says how do you only spend $17 a day on marketing, I tell them that I simply do less marketing. Let me explain what that means.
\n\n\n\nI focus, and I recommend that you focus too. I know — it’s counterintuitive marketing advice, but it works (and saves you time and money)
\n\n\n\nMost entrepreneurs churn through one marketing idea after another; email, quizzes, webinars, events, etc. The list just goes on and on.
\n\n\n\nIf you’re a solopreneur with a limited marketing budget, this is going to burn through all of your cash and generate nothing – like a slot machine.
\n\n\n\nYou HAVE to know, understand, and use the marketing process – and no one really tells you this.
\n\n\n\nThe marketing process is a recipe that you must follow step-by-step and in order each time, every time. Run through the process on paper – that’s the marketing plan. Once you’ve tested each step then you are ready to implement. Once you implement each tactics, you must test, measure, tweak.
\n\n\n\nDon’t just ditch something because it didn’t work once. If you enjoy running this strategy, and you can run the tactics efficiently, keep improving, keep optimizing, keep delighting your customers.
\n\n\n\nThis is my own personal rule for clients I work with. I learned about it the hard way. This one is counterintuitive because people will tell you that you can start with small spending and make money as you go. While this is true for some things, I’ve found that a lot of clients I’ve worked with who did this invested like $5,000 to get coaching and then ran out of money – so they had coaching, but not enough money to build the site and pay for the email marketing software and so on.
\n\n\n\nYou must have a slush fund to work with. Because when you launch, you don’t want to stop, you want to keep moving and keep implementing.
\n\n\n\nGoing back to the idea that the marketing process is a recipe – the $10,000 slush fund is like prepping your ingredients, because once you start putting it all together, you don’t want your recipe half cooked or half-baked – that doesn’t work.
\n\n\n\nWhat I want you to do while you’re saving your stash is RESEARCH, plan, budget, get all your implementation ducks in a row, so that when you have the money you can press “play” and start implementing; hiring experts, building sites, placing ads, whatever was in your marketing plan.
\n\n\n\nOnly use half your budget for the first run – because you will have to spend more to fix, tweak and optimize.
\n\n\n\nWhew, there’s a lot packed into this one. Somehow we’ve been taught to think that if you do something yourself, that it’s free. It’s not free. Your time is worth something.
\n\n\n\nYour time is worth your monthly expenses divided by the number of hours you spend doing something. It’s just that simple.
\n\n\n\nYou can pay someone to do something you don’t want to do or you don’t know how to do, but if you don’t get the desired results – you’ve wasted both time and money.
\n\n\n\nSocial media is not free. Just because you didn’t spend $5,000 printing flyers doesn’t mean that you didn’t waste $5,000 worth of time posting on social to get nothing.
\n\n\n\nEach marketing strategy require some element of time and money. Here’s my shortcut for selecting a marketing strategy.
\n\n\n\nIf you have more time than money – use a content strategy. Create an offer and invest your time in identifying and building a hyper-engaged community. Use that time and content to collect your market and customer research.
\n\n\n\nIf you need money NOW: Invest in direct marketing – otherwise known as personal selling. This is your fastest path to cash whether you’re having conversations with qualified prospects or using a referral strategy. This is the best way to invest your time. Not only that, but you’ll be developing a sales process that you can use to train other salespeople.
\n\n\n\nIf your time is best spent serving customers – invest in advertising. It’s just that simple. If you’re a doctor, lawyer, or any type of professional who literally delivers value by engaging personally with your customer, or is needed to deliver your product or service. Invest in advertising. If you don’t have the money now, use your time to learn about advertising as a strategy, choose your channel, and figure out an irresistible offer.
\n\n\n\nSo these are my counterintuitive marketing lessons that all came from learning the hard way. I guess the lesson for you is — don’t assume something is good marketing advice. All good marketing advice comes from your ideal customer. What they want, how they want it and why they want it is the only thing that matters.
\nIt’s been a while since I’ve seen some simplified counterintuitive marketing advice and so I thought I’d get out there and create a list of the best marketing advice I’ve heard.
\n\n\n\nIt’s not in any order, it’s just stuff I’ve heard over the years that just makes sense for today’s boo...
Goal setting is necessary but, let’s face it you’re always setting the same types of goals; sales, profits, and brand recognition. There’s nothing wrong with that. In fact, these are essential goals to keep your business viable.
\n\n\n\nRecently, our #BizapaloozaChat community had a conversation about “unconventional goals”.
\n\n\n\nWhat are unconventional goals? Glad you asked.
\n\n\n\nThere are goals and objectives that are an offshoot of traditional goals and that will not only motivate your team, but just might help you identify a competitive advantage that you can take to the bank.
\n\n\n\nHere’s a wonderful example.
\n\n\n\nRecently, Women in Cloud, a community-led economic development organization dedicated to generating $1 billion in new net economic access for women entrepreneurs and professionals by 2030, set a new Guinness World Record for most users in a Vision Board Video Hangout. This record-breaking video hangout event attracted 632 participants worldwide, showcasing 503 approved vision boards, highlighting the significant impact of digital engagement and creative collaboration. The live stream allowed global viewers to join in this celebration of shared dreams and aspirations, emphasizing the event’s community-building power.
\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nGiven its vision for creating economic access for women, this unique goal and effort not only generated press and built community, it created a newsworthy event that created excitement, enthusiasm and brand building.
\n\n\n\nThat got me thinking, what are some other fun conventional goals, turned into unconventional goals and objectives that you can try for your business?
\n\n\n\nI’ve pulled together 7 unconventional goal categories and gave you three fun ideas for each one.
\n\n\n\nGoal setting is necessary but, let’s face it you’re always setting the same types of goals; sales, profits, and brand recognition. There’s nothing wrong with that. In fact, these are essential goals to keep your business viable.

There are dozens of new and affordable AI video generators out there. Each one claims to do it all, but you and I both know that’s never the case.
\n\n\n\nI’ve been playing with dozens of these AI video generators so that you don’t have to.
\n\n\n\nIt was really hard to select the top tools because there is no one tool that does it all. Instead, I’ve shared my choices for the tools you’ll want to use depending on what type of video you want to create.
\n\n\n\nIn 2024, the landscape of AI video generators is more diverse and powerful than ever. And the best part (or not) is that you can expect to see even more tools with even more features. Not gonna lie — it’s overwhelming.
\n\n\n\nEach AI video generator platform brings something unique to the table, targeting various content creation needs with their distinctive strengths. Whether you’re looking for a tool that rocks creating videos with realistic AI avatars, converting text to videos, offering superior customization, or targeting specific use-cases like marketing videos, there are AI editing tools out there for you.
\n\n\n\nHere are some of the best options:
\n\n\n\nSynthesia was one of the first true awe-inspiring AI video editors that will help you create amazing videos. I’ve not used it myself, but several of my colleagues and friends have used the free ai video generator and loved it.
\n\n\n\nThe most impressive part of this video generator is the voice cloning feature. It allows us to maintain brand consistency across all video clips by using a custom avatar that speaks in our own voice. However, do note that there are additional costs for custom avatar creation. Despite this, the platform’s user-friendly interface and robust editing features make it worth the investment.
\n\n\n\nStarter plan and the Creator plan. The Starter plan costs $29 per month or $264 if billed annually, providing 10 video minutes per month. On the other hand, the Creator plan is priced at $89 per month, offering 30 video minutes per month. The Creator plan includes additional features such as the ability to upload your own audio, 90+ AI avatars, and 120+ languages and voices
\n\n\n\nWhen I first saw AI generated video from HeyGen, I have to say my mind was blown. Synthesia was cool, but HeyGen is amazing at creating high quality videos and, I think its features are a little more tailored for online marketing.
\n\n\n\nIt supports multiple languages, which has been a boon for our global campaigns. However, I’ve found that the platform is still evolving, and there are areas for improvement. The interface can be slightly tricky for beginners, and there are limited options when it comes to editing tools. Despite these setbacks, HeyGen is showing great promise in the AI video generation landscape, and I’m excited to see how it evolves in the future.
\n\n\n\nBased on the reviews and information available, here are the pros and cons of HeyGen:
\n\n\n\nHeyGen offers a flexible pricing scheme with different pricing editions. The pricing ranges from $29 to $89 per month, with a free trial available. The basic plan includes 15 minutes of video creation per month and features such as 120+ human avatars, 40+ languages, 300+ templates, face swap, and a branding kit. The pricing per minute decreases as you sign up for more minutes. The platform also offers an annual pricing plan with a 20% discount. The pricing is considered to be reasonable for the features and capabilities provided.
\n\n\n\nHeyGen’s strengths lie in its visual quality, user-friendly interface, and affordability. However, users should consider the credit system, customization limitations, and language performance when evaluating the platform for their video creation needs.
\n\n\n\nLumen5 is a standout tool for translating text into engaging video content. My favorite feature is its ability to transform a blog post into a video. You simply throw in your URL and out comes a video. You can edit the transcript, throw in your customized script and, you get a video. Lumen5’s free plan comes with an image and video library that has everything you need to generate video in just a few clicks.
\n\n\n\nFree plan that allows users to create up to 5 videos per month with Lumen5 branding. Basic plan starts at $18/mo with a yearly contract.

\n\n\n\nPictory is a video editing software that offers various features. Here are the pros and cons based on the available reviews:
\n\n\n\nPros:
\n\n\n\nCons:
\n\n\n\nThe software seems to be well-received, with users praising its ease of use, AI capabilities, and the range of possibilities it offers for video editing. However, some users have mentioned a learning curve and limitations in the free plan. Additionally, there may be a learning curve for some users, and only English support is available for the AI voiceover feature.
\n\n\n\nThe pricing options for Pictory AI video software are as follows:

\n\n\n\nAll plans come with a free trial, and the prices are listed in USD. The software allows users to cancel their monthly plan anytime, with a 14-day no-questions-asked money-back guarantee if canceled within 15 days.
\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPictory has proven exceptionally useful to me as a writer who frequently needs to transform lengthy content into engaging videos. The AI video generator is intended to:
\n\n\n\nHowever, one drawback I’ve encountered is the platform’s language support, currently limited to English. This limitation can pose challenges when targeting audiences that speak other languages. Despite this, Pictory’s proficiency in converting text into engaging video content makes it a great tool for content creators, especially those who frequently work with text-based content.
\n\n\n\nOverall, I really love Pictory. Since I write a lot of content, but don’t do a lot of video, I’m always looking for a feature that converts text to video quickly and easily.

With a variety of templates and editing tools, the platform offers everything you need to create videos that are engaging and professional. Despite this, the platform’s robust features and ease of use make it a valuable tool for creating marketing videos.
\n\n\n\nThe right AI video generator can transform your content creation process. When choosing an AI video generator, it’s crucial to consider factors like:
\n\n\n\nTaking these factors into account will help you make the best choice for your needs.
\n\n\n\nLet’s dive deeper into these factors to help you make an informed decision.
\n\n\n\nThe first step in choosing among all of these options is understanding exactly what you need. Sure, you can play with each of these tools. But I recommend that you create a wish list first, prioritize the features in your wish list and then look for the tools that have those features at a price you can afford.
\n\n\n\nUtilizing free trials provides an excellent opportunity to assess an AI video generator’s features and capabilities. Most platforms offer free trials or plans with basic functionality, giving you a chance to test the software without any financial commitments. However, keep in mind that free trials might have limitations that affect the final output, such as watermarks or limited export options.
\n\n\n\nChoosing the right AI video generator can significantly streamline your content creation process, saving you time and resources. Remember to identify your needs, compare different options, and take advantage of free trials before making your decision. With the right tool, you can transform your content creation process and take your videos to the next level.

Ah, high maintenance customers— you know who I’m talking about, the folks that can make your heart sink the moment you see their number pop up on your caller ID. Yet, as I’ve navigated the choppy waters of consumer interactions, I’ve stumbled upon a curious revelation: these demanding patrons aren’t just a thorn in our side. They’re a goldmine of opportunities.
\n\n\n\nPicture this: It’s a typical Tuesday, and I’m sifting through emails when I see a message from what many would label a “high-maintenance” customer. As soon as I see the “From” field I get this little lurch in the pit of my stomach. It’s like my subconscious knows that I’m going to see something that is going to have me rework something that’s already been approved, do something that I’m not going to get paid for, or just be generally annoyed by whatever is in the email.
\n\n\n\nI know you have this too. And, over the years, I’ve learned to pay attention to those feelings because they are a wealth of information and opportunities.
\n\n\n\nWhen you have that halting feeling, know that your intuition is trying to tell you something. That feeling is a whisper. And if you ignore it, it’s going to turn into a scream, and if you ignore that, it’s going to turn into a major disruption in your business and your life.
\n\n\n\nSo you might as well start exploring it and dealing with it.
\n\n\n\nHere’s my short list that I’ve developed over time. Yours might be different, but the process should be about the same.
\n\n\n\nLet’s just take it from seeing this high maintenance client’s name on your caller ID or email.
\n\n\n\nRrrrring – you see their name. You have this “uugh feeling” — WHY? Your subconscious knows something that you’re not acknowledging. And the way to get to the bottom of it is to start tracking what the little voice inside your head is thinking in the moment
\n\n\n\nLet’s stop there. Now, let’s look for what’s underneath that:
\n\n\n\nHow this customer likes to work and how you like to work are very different.
\n\n\n\nLike all things in life, it’s the little things that turn into a big deal. And work preferences and work styles are so much more important than you might think.
\n\n\n\nIf you high maintenance customer prefers to communicate via phone or zoom and you prefer email – this is going to be a problem.
\n\n\n\nIf your client prefers to brainstorm at meetings and you prefer a more structured agenda for meetings, that’s going to be a problem.
\n\n\n\nHere’s the fix:
\n\n\n\nYou didn’t cost out the project properly and you’re not charging enough
\n\n\n\nThis is usually behind 80% of high maintenance issues. If you have a client who is constantly reaching out, micromanaging, interrupting, making changes, and taking up much more time than you budgeted for, you are going to see them as high maintenance. Your job is to make sure that you’re pricing properly and charging for all the things that will make the job worthwhile.
\n\n\n\nHere’s the fix:
\n\n\n\nOverall, the key here is to have a solid knowledge and understanding of how you work, what accommodations you are willing to make and how much those accommodations will cost?
\n\n\n\nThe short answer is yes, but it’s complicated. High-maintenance customers demand more resources, time, and patience. However, they also push your business to elevate its game, refine processes, and improve service quality. By addressing their concerns, you’re indirectly enhancing your operations for all customers, leading to increased satisfaction and loyalty across the board.
\n\n\n\nAbsolutely. Think of high-maintenance customers as your most rigorous quality control inspectors. Their demands for prompt service, perfection, and personal attention force you to scrutinize and optimize your business processes. This relentless pursuit of excellence can lead to operational efficiencies, innovative problem-solving techniques, and a stronger, more adaptable business model.
\n\n\n\nIdentifying high-maintenance customers early on can save you a significant amount of time and resources. Look for signs like constant demands for discounts, frequent and detailed complaints, or an expectation for immediate responses at all hours. Recognizing these traits allows you to proactively manage their expectations and tailor your approach to their specific needs.
\n\n\n\nTurning high-maintenance customers into advocates might seem like a Herculean task, but with the right strategies, it’s entirely achievable. Here are seven proven tactics to not only manage but also leverage high-maintenance customers to your advantage:
\n\n\n\nStart by acknowledging their concerns and showing genuine empathy. A simple “I understand why that’s frustrating for you” can go a long way in building a rapport.
\n\n\n\nHigh-maintenance customers often have unrealistic expectations. Setting clear boundaries and communicating what you can and cannot do helps manage these expectations from the outset.
\n\n\n\nCustomizing your service to meet their specific needs shows that you value their business and are willing to go the extra mile for their satisfaction.
\n\n\n\nEncourage them to share their feedback, both positive and negative. This not only provides valuable insights for improvement but also makes them feel heard and appreciated.
\n\n\n\nView every complaint as an opportunity to improve. Demonstrating a commitment to resolving issues can turn a dissatisfied customer into a loyal advocate.
\n\n\n\nSometimes, high maintenance stems from a lack of understanding. Educating your customers about your processes, limitations, and how things work can alleviate many concerns.
\n\n\n\nWhen you’ve successfully met their demands or exceeded expectations, celebrate these successes. A simple acknowledgment of a positive outcome can reinforce their decision to advocate for your business.
\n\n\n\nThe transformation from high-maintenance customer to advocate doesn’t happen overnight. It requires patience, strategy, and a consistent effort to exceed expectations. However, when a high-maintenance customer becomes an advocate, they’re likely to be more vocal and influential than your average satisfied client. Their journey from dissatisfaction to advocacy can become a powerful testament to the quality and resilience of your business.
\n\n\n\nIn the grand scheme of things, high-maintenance customers hold the potential to be your most vocal and influential advocates. By embracing their challenges as opportunities for growth, you can unlock a level of loyalty and advocacy that far outweighs the initial investment of time and resources. Remember, in the world of business, every customer interaction is a stepping stone towards excellence. Let’s turn those stones into milestones together.
\nAh, high maintenance customers— you know who I’m talking about, the folks that can make your heart sink the moment you see their number pop up on your caller ID. Yet, as I’ve navigated the choppy waters of consumer interactions, I’ve stumbled upon a curious revelation: these dema...

\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTake a minute to answer the questions and let it run.
\n\n\n\nHere’s the result I got.
\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nI absolutely love this. This is one of the best GPTs I’ve used. This entire process took me about 5 minutes, maybe less. \n\n\n\nThe user interface is clean, simple and easy to navigate:
\n\n\n\nOverall, it’s exactly what you’d expect. I love that there are only three choices to start with:
\n\n\n\nCreate a project: where you can upload a video you’ve recorded, record a video, or add a video from a link.
\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nRecord a video: This is a great feature. I know a lot of people are using Zoom for this kind of stuff, but this is much easier and more effective. It’s ideal for online courses, podcast audios, and screencasts.
\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nCreate avatars: If you’re like me and hate the idea of showing your face, you’ll have the ability to use an avatar. You can do voiceovers and give the avatar your voice, or you can also use the AI feature and VEED.IO will use an AI voice to read your text.
\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe drag-and-drop functionality greatly enhances VEED.IO’s user friendliness. This feature simplifies the editing process significantly, allowing users to easily add, remove, or rearrange elements within their videos. \n\n\n\nWell, I’ve been playing with VEED.IO recently and I thought I’d share my.
The price of everything has gone up. And, I’m sorry to say, value hasn’t been keeping up. Consumer habits have changed and customers aren’t buying like they used to.
\n\n\n\nMeanwhile, behind the curtain, marketers are tweaking webinars, emails, landing pages, and ads. At the same time the total price (value) of all of these tactics has also gone up. and the ROI has been dropping.
\n\n\n\nSo many folks in my community are saying things like “Nothing is working like it used to”, and I have to agree.
\n\n\n\nAnd, what I realized is that we haven’t done enough deep thinking on what’s going on. So, instead of solving for symptoms let’s start solving for the problem.
\n\n\n\nThis is a loaded question. “Not working” generally means that registrations are down, attendance is down, engagement is down, conversions are down, prospects are saying that they just don’t have the money.
\n\n\n\nThese are all valid reasons, but what’s underneath those?
\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBut, if customers simply no longer have enough money to buy what you’re selling – price is a factor.
Typically, we marketers don’t like to acknowledge that price is a factor in purchasing decisions. I like to say that if your customers are complaining about price, they have no idea why they should choose you.
\n\n\n\nBut, if customers simply no longer have enough money to buy what you’re selling – price is a factor. That means that your product or service is the low man on the totem pole, and it’s just a matter of time before they stop buying.
\n\n\n\nAnd if you are experiencing this, the price elasticity of what you’re selling is higher than you thought or than it used to be.
\n\n\n\nPrice elasticity is more of a thing than you realize.
\n\n\n\nYou don’t hear a lot of people talking about price elasticity, but understanding this economic concept is more important than you can imagine. Here’s a quick primer.
\n\n\n\nPrice elasticity of demand: This is a measurement of the change in consumption of a product in relation to a change in its price.
\n\n\n\nLow price elasticity: Demand stays the same no matter how high or low the price goes.
\n\n\n\nHigh price elasticity: Demand varies depending on the price.
\n\n\n\nOf course, as entrepreneurs and marketers, our goal is to have an in-elastic price (low price elasticity). That means that no matter what the price, people will buy our product because demand doesn’t change no matter what the price does.
\n\n\n\nAnother example of relatively inelastic goods are “necessities”; bread, milk, eggs, and the internet are good examples. These are goods most of us need to “survive” in today’s market. If some of these brands get too expensive, people might shift brands, but it will take a lot for consumers to not purchase them as a category.
\n\n\n\nIf your product or service has a solid brand reputation and is considered to be a necessary good by your customers, you should not see much of a shift in demand or sales.
\n\n\n\nBut, if your product or service is perceived as a luxury or preference and the price gets too high for your customer, you’re going to have a problem.
\n\n\n\nAnd there we have it. If people aren’t choosing and buying your product or service, they think they can live without it OR they think that something cheaper, ahemmmm more affordable will be good enough.
\n\n\n\nAnd this, right here is where some competitive analysis can come in handy.
\n\n\n\nGreat, now let’s get out of your world and into the marketplace for your products and services. I don’t care what industry you’re in, it’s flooded with options and great marketers who have been turning up the volume on why their offers are NECESSARY.
\n\n\n\nWhile this has been working for some, it’s NOT working for most small businesses.
\n\n\n\nYou see, what’s happening right now, is that so many inelastic and necessary goods and services have gone up, up, up while earnings have been relatively stagnant (unless you’re a big corporation), that there’s literally not enough money to purchase those secondary goods and services that your customers WANT or even NEED (just not to survive).
\n\n\n\nNot only that, but while big corporations have been stacking their earnings (to CYA in case there’s another disruption) we entrepreneurs and small business owners have been empathizing with fellow consumers and trying to keep our prices as low as possible.
\n\n\n\nThe answer isn’t fast or easy – it’s not tactical. In other words, improving your email subject lines, or just doing a training webinar. The answer isn’t really even strategic in nature; deciding to do ads or creating more video content.
\n\n\n\nI’m going out on a limb and saying that we need to shift our marketing over to delivering on reliability, quality, and being on the customer’s side – I’m thinking about the brand promises of the past – the brands you can count on no matter what; L.L. Bean, Lands End, Southwest – remember those brands that stood behind their products, that stood by the customer? We’re not seeing so much of that anymore.
\n\n\n\nI think we’ve gotten lazy and because digital marketing is so affordable, we’ve been focusing on tweaking the copy and the layouts and messing around with everything but the quality of the customer experience.
\n\n\n\nLet me show you what I mean. Here is a landing page I clicked on from a Facebook ad. It’s a great headline, it’s a neat offer.
\n\n\n\nBut – if I only have a fixed amount of money to invest in my marketing – I’m thinking that my best investment is going to be in doing the best I can and not giving anyone else money.
\n\n\n\nIn this next Facebook Ad, there’s an over-the-top promise and free download. But while I definitely want to download, there’s no way I’m going to give anyone thousands of dollars I don’t have for a promise that isn’t guaranteed.
\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nConsumers are focusing on the necessities in their life. And if you’re selling to solopreneurs, and small business owners, think of them as super-consumers. And that means their spending has been severely limited.
\n\n\n\nYour job is going to be to identify the necessity that lies behind their need for their product. Don’t make anything up. Instead, think about your customers deepest desired outcome; don’t just default to security, what’s underneath their desire for security as it relates to your product? To what degree is your product easy, fool-proof, guaranteed to deliver on the specific aspect of security that they’re after.
\n\n\n\nSo, let’s say that you provide sales training. And if your clients are looking for security, what are all the different ways that you are delivering on their desire for security.
\n\n\n\nHow is it fool-proof?
\n\n\n\nHow is it easy?
\n\n\n\nHow are my results guaranteed
\n\n\n\nThis is just the process you need to go through as thoroughly as possible.
\n\n\n\nThis is where your previous customer experiences will make all the difference in the world. Are customers recommending you? Are you getting referrals/
\n\n\n\nIf you don’t have success stories, you need to do whatever it takes to create those. This might mean volunteering or pro-bono services, or it might mean providing deep discounts. But the outcome will be worth it.
\n\n\n\nAnother benefit is that you’re going to be gaining valuable feedback so that you can do what it takes to improve your offer.
\n\n\n\nValue comes in a variety of shapes and sizes depending on each customer. Your number one job is to figure out how each of your clients defines value. It might be in the form of having your time and attention. For another, it might be immediate delivery. FIgure this out because it makes all the difference.
\n\n\n\nWhen it comes to coming up with an outrageous guarantee, most people just default to eliminating risk, buyer’s remorse, or fear of taking action. Yes, that’s what a guarantee does. But it’s so much more than that.
\n\n\n\nTo come up with an awesome guarantee that achieves all those things, you have to know how your customer breathes, what’s been their experience, what’s underneath their most common objections, and what can you do to help them get to their desired result (and not just buy now).
\n\n\n\nThe easiest thing you can do is provide an unlimited guarantee – your money back no matter what, no matter when. This isn’t the right answer for everyone. And it’s definitely not the answer if you don’t have a solid history of performance.
\n\n\n\nYou can provide a guarantee that allows clients to go beyond the contracted term until they get the agreed upon results.
\n\n\n\nDon’t just pick something. Talk to existing clients, talk to prospects, and make sure that you have a deep understanding of all the elements that can get in the way of your clients achieving their desired results.
\n\n\n\nIf you want to work less and make more, then your ideal strategy is to focus on building a cadre of loyal, happy, and profitable customers. Granted, this isn’t for everyone. But if you’re the type of person who would rather be working, doing what you do well and helping people, I advocate for a smaller, more exclusive, more loyal, more highly served customer base.
\n\n\n\nWhile everyone is focused on gathering up as many new customers as possible, you’re focused on identifying just the right customer and serving them out the wazoo. There are so many benefits to this strategy; you’ll create offers based on what your existing customers will want to buy, you’ll reduce your marketing expenses, you’ll be so good at what you do that people will be willing to pay more.
\n\n\n\nIt seems odd for a marketing person, but I am all about the idea of un-marketing; doing less marketing to make more money. The idea is to focus your energies on a small set of clients who love working with you and appreciate who you are and what you do.
\n\n\n\nInstead of trying to convince every customer who should be buying from you, shift your focus to meaningful interactions. Understand that your customers aren’t just looking for the best deal; they’re looking for a business they can trust, a brand that understands them and is there for them, rain or shine. Be that business, and you’ll find that doing less can indeed lead to more: more loyalty, more referrals, and more success.
\n\n\n\nSo, ask yourself: Are you ready to un-market and create a community of loyal customers who believe not just in what you sell, but in who you are? If the answer is yes, then welcome to the new era of marketing, where less is more, and where your customers are your greatest asset. Welcome to the future.
\nThe price of everything has gone up. And, I’m sorry to say, value hasn’t been keeping up. Consumer habits have changed and customers aren’t buying like they used to.
\n\n\n\nMeanwhile, behind the curtain, marketers are tweaking webinars, emails, landing pages, and ads. At the same time.
Are you trying to compete on price? Forget about it, there’s a better way.
\n\n\n\nI just read this piece in the Harvard Business Review saying businesses should focus more on the mind games of pricing. But honestly, I think they’re missing a big piece of the puzzle. They’re assuming you’ve already got an awesome product or service, and all you need is a slick pricing strategy to make it sell.
\n\n\n\nHere’s my take: it’s time to step back and really look at what we’re selling. Are we delivering top-notch quality, reliability, and real value? That’s where our focus should be.
\n\n\n\nWe need to make sure our prices don’t just lure customers in, but actually back up a product they’ll love. It’s not just about making it easy for folks to buy; it’s about making them glad they did. Let’s talk about flipping the script and putting real value front and center.
\n\n\n\nI always say that if people are complaining about your price, they don’t know why they should choose you.
\n\n\n\nLet’s face facts, price is a critical factor, especially when your customers are balancing their checkbooks against their desires. We’re talking about a world where people weigh the value of every purchase against essential life needs. This isn’t just about affordability; it’s about making hard choices.
\n\n\n\nSo, if you’re trying to compete on price, the solution isn’t in playing fancy games with pricing strategy, it’s something much more fundamental.
\n\n\n\nSure, having enough cash to make a purchase is one thing, but there’s a bigger player in this game: trust. It’s about the confidence that your hard-earned money will bring the results you’re looking for.
\n\n\n\nIn a world where you’re bombarded with choices, trying to compete on price often becomes a secondary concern. Let’s face it, out of the myriad options available, less than 1% truly live up to their hype.
\n\n\n\nSo, the real deal-breaker isn’t just about price tags; it’s whether your product or service can fulfill its promises. With a backdrop of broken promises and unmet expectations, each buying decision for consumers feels like rolling the dice. Are they willing to wager their money on uncertainty? More often than not, they’re not ready to take that risk.
\n\n\n\nLet’s dive into that Harvard Business Review article. This article is outlining 6 popular pricing strategies. And these are all valid. What I think they fail to acknowledge is that psychological tricks aren’t going to guarantee conversions.
\n\n\n\nLet me say this another way – I don’t think psychological pricing tricks can overcome product or service quality and customer experience.
\n\n\n\nYou buyers are cautious – heck they are PISSED! Think the constant shrinkflation, think about prices constantly going up without commensurate increases in value.
\n\n\n\nFor some reasons everyone things they can just charge more for nothing. This isn’t going to work anymore.
\n\n\n\nHaving said that, let’s take a look at these pricing strategies from a practical point of view.
\n\n\n\nHere are the 6 pricing strategies outline in the Harvard article. Again, before you just choose one of these, think about your buyer and what they want from your product or service.
\n\n\n\nDon’t overstate your features or benefits. Aim to underpromise and overdeliver. Instead of just throwing features out there because they sound good, actually dig deep and look at ways that you can give your customers guaranteed results, faster results, less effort on their part.
\n\n\n\nTiered pricing is like a buffet – offering something for everyone. It’s a strategy that shines in situations where customization and choice are key. Netflix does this brilliantly, with options ranging from basic to premium, catering to different appetites and wallets.
\n\n\n\nDon’t get me started on streaming services. Netflix has created these tiers and given their customers the option of paying “less” (what they were paying a few years ago) only with commercials.
\n\n\n\nPeople are PISSED.
\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n@poojsvarietyhr Netflix ads tier is not great #youngroyalsnetflix #netflix #netflixmovies #netflixshows #wednesdaynetflix #sandmannetflix #GenshinImpact32 ♬ Psycho Killer – Talking Heads
The NFL is guilty of this as well. They’ve had games on Amazon Prime and literally gated content so that even local teams can’t see their team play during the regular season unless they are Amazon Prime customers.
\n\n\n\nNot Good.
\n\n\n\nThe idea behind tiered pricing is to bring customers who couldn’t afford your product or service into the fold. You can offer less, but don’t cannibalize your core offer and what your brand is known for.
\n\n\n\nNetflix has broken two important elements of their brand promise – account sharing (which was their core competitive advantage) and they’ve added a lower cost option that includes commercials.
\n\n\n\nThey are trying to get new users, but they are also degrading the experience for their loyal customers.
\n\n\n\nBuy One, Get One Free – this classic strategy has made a comeback, and why not? It’s perfect for inventory clearance and catching the eye of the bargain hunter. But remember, the value of the primary product is crucial. Don’t let the deal overshadow the quality.
\n\n\n\nHere’s a tricky one. Setting a higher base price and then slashing it can reel in customers, but it’s a double-edged sword. Use it wisely, ideally in scenarios like seasonal sales, where the discount feels like a special event, not a daily deception.
\n\n\n\nThe 2023 Black Friday season is a terrific example of this strategy FAIL.
\n\n\n\nTikTok had a series of videos of consumers going to Target and sharing that the Black Friday price was no different (and sometimes higher) than they were previously.
\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n@red_pump17 Retailers and their fake Black Friday deals…. Continue the boycott.##fypシ゚viral####fyp ♬ original sound – 10 Toes Down Wit Palestine
That 99-cent trick? It’s everywhere, and for a good reason. It nudges the customer’s decision-making subtly. It’s not about deceiving; it’s about making the price more palatable, more… charming.
\n\n\n\nThe latest research, however, is saying that this isn’t a silver bullet. So while this is certainly a pricing strategy, it isn’t all it’s cracked up to be.
\n\n\n\nSubscriptions are the modern-day layaway plan. They make large payments feel like a gentle hug rather than a bear squeeze. Ideal for services where you want to hold onto your customers for the long haul.
\n\n\n\nBut here’s the deal. There are so many people running a subscription model, that you’d better make sure that your offer is subscription worthy. Otherwise, you’re going to find yourself with a lot of turnover.
\n\n\n\nBundling is like the combo meal of the business world – offering a complete package that’s hard to resist. It’s about wrapping up related products or services with a neat bow and a single price tag. This approach not only boosts perceived value but also serves up a taste of your diverse offerings. Perfect for when you want to give customers a fuller experience, introducing them to products they might not have explored on their own. Ideal for businesses looking to provide a comprehensive solution while enhancing the overall customer journey.
\n\n\n\nThis is where we get real. It’s time to strip away the fancy packaging and focus on delivering something that genuinely wows your customers. It’s about being the tortoise in a race filled with hares – slow, steady, and reliable wins the race.
\n\n\n\nTransparency is your new best friend. Be open about your costs, your process, and why your product is priced the way it is. Build trust brick by brick – it’s the foundation of long-term customer relationships.
\n\n\n\nHere’s a radical thought: let’s measure success by customer satisfaction, not just sales figures. It’s about creating a tribe of loyal followers who don’t just buy your product but believe in it.
\n\n\n\nIn a market where trying to compete on price can often feel like a race to the bottom, it’s crucial to shift gears and focus on what truly sets you apart. Let’s dive into some practical tips that will not only help you stand out but also ensure you’re delivering real value to your customers.
\n\n\n\nInvolve your customers in your product development. Their feedback is the compass that guides your journey towards a product that not only meets but exceeds expectations.
\n\n\n\nDevelop marketing strategies that reflect the real benefits of your product. No fluff, no puff – just pure, unadulterated value.
\n\n\n\nNever underestimate the power of stellar customer service. It’s the safety net that catches and addresses any customer concerns, reinforcing your brand’s value promise.
\n\n\n\nWe’re standing at the brink of a new era in business – one that favors honesty, integrity, and genuine value over flashy marketing tactics.
\n\n\n\nIt’s about building a brand that’s loved not just for what it sells, but for the honesty and reliability it represents.
\n\n\n\nWelcome to the great reboot of business. It’s not just a change; it’s a revolution.
\n\n\n\n\nAre you trying to compete on price? Forget about it, there’s a better way.

\n\n\n\nYep. Gratitude marketing strategies are a thing, here’s how you can make it work for you.
\n\n\n\nPicture this: you’re at your favorite coffee shop, and the barista, with a beaming smile, hands you a free cup of your favorite brew. How do you feel? Surprised, happy, valued? That’s gratitude in action. Now, let’s translate this feeling into the business world. Believe it or not, gratitude isn’t just about manners; it’s a catalyst for success.
\n\n\n\nResearch from the fields of psychology and neuroscience is increasingly highlighting how gratitude can positively transform workplace dynamics. It’s more than just saying ‘thank you.’ Gratitude in the business realm fosters a culture of appreciation, which in turn boosts morale, enhances collaboration, and even improves overall health and well-being. Studies have shown that when employees feel valued and appreciated, they’re more productive, engaged, and loyal. This is not just good for the soul; it’s great for the bottom line.
\n\n\n\nLet’s move beyond theory and dive into some real-life examples. Across industries, from startups to conglomerates, leaders who have embraced gratitude as a core business strategy are reaping remarkable rewards.
\n\n\n\nConsider a tech startup where the CEO starts each day with a personal email acknowledging an employee’s contribution, no matter how small. Or a retail giant that implemented a peer-to-peer recognition program, allowing employees to award points to colleagues for their hard work and achievements. These points can be exchanged for gifts, creating a tangible expression of thanks. The results? Improved employee satisfaction, decreased turnover, and a positive, thriving workplace culture.
\n\n\n\nThese stories aren’t anomalies; they’re evidence of a growing trend. Businesses that prioritize gratitude marketing strategies are setting themselves apart, creating environments where innovation flourishes, and loyalty runs deep.
\n\n\n\nSo, how can you, as a leader, cultivate this environment of gratitude in your business? It starts at the top. Gratitude is contagious, and it must begin with you. Here are some gratitude marketing strategies to consider:
\n\n\n\nThe impact of gratitude doesn’t stop at the office door. It spills over into customer relationships, supplier interactions, and even into the broader community. Customers feel the difference when they engage with a business that operates from a place of genuine appreciation and respect. This translates into brand loyalty, positive word-of-mouth, and a competitive edge in the market.
\n\n\n\nIn essence, gratitude in business isn’t just about creating a pleasant work environment. It’s a strategic tool, a hidden superpower that can transform challenges into opportunities, turn average teams into exceptional ones and elevate a business from ordinary to extraordinary.
\n\n\n\nIt’s about creating a positive feedback loop where appreciation begets more success, which in turn fosters further gratitude. This cycle propels businesses towards sustainable growth and a deeply ingrained sense of community and purpose.
\n\n\n\nIncorporating gratitude marketing strategies into your business model may seem like a small step, but its effects are profound and far-reaching. It’s a journey that begins with a simple ‘thank you’ and evolves into a powerful force that shapes company culture, drives employee engagement, and captivates customers.
\n\n\n\nAs we wrap up this exploration into the transformative power of gratitude in business, remember that this isn’t just a strategy or a temporary campaign; it’s a mindset, a way of life. When gratitude becomes ingrained in the DNA of your business, the boundaries between work and joy start to blur. Workplaces become happier, teams become more cohesive, and businesses become more resilient and successful.
\n\n\n\nSo, start today. Find a moment to express gratitude in your business. It could be a note, a gesture, or a simple word of thanks. Watch as this small seed of appreciation grows into a mighty tree, sheltering and nurturing your business through the seasons of change and challenge. The power of gratitude is immense, and it’s right at your fingertips.
\nYep. Gratitude marketing strategies are a thing, here’s how you can make it work for you.

\n\n\n\nThese are the perfect ways to say thank you to your team if you don’t have a lot of money.
\n\n\n\nEver wonder why some teams click while others clunk? In my 35-year journey through the maze of virtual and multifunctional work teams, I’ve uncovered a secret ingredient: it’s not just about who’s on your team, but how you ignite their willingness to go above and beyond. Let me share some unique ways to express gratitude that do more than just say ‘thanks’ – they transform your team’s energy and enthusiasm.
\n\n\n\nYou know that a happy team is the secret sauce to a thriving business. But let’s face it, in the hustle and bustle of entrepreneurial life, showing appreciation can sometimes slip down the priority list. Fear not, for I’m here to share some quirky, cost-effective, and downright delightful ways to show gratitude to your team. Let’s dive into the world of creative appreciation – where a little goes a long way!
\n\n\n\nWho doesn’t love a surprise, especially when it involves food? Here’s the twist: ditch the usual doughnuts and go local. Partner with a local bakery or a food truck to deliver surprise treats to your team. Maybe it’s Taco Tuesday or Waffle Wednesday, but the key is unpredictability. The surprise element adds an extra layer of excitement and shows that you’re thinking about your team even when they least expect it.
\n\n\n\nKey Takeaway: Surprise treats are not just about the food; they’re a signal that you care about your team’s day-to-day experience.

Create a monthly social media shout-out for your team members. But here’s the catch – make it personal. Did Sarah from accounting run a marathon? Did Joe in marketing volunteer over the weekend? Highlight their achievements outside of work. It shows that you value them as people, not just as employees.
\n\n\n\nKey Takeaway: Personal shout-outs on social media celebrate your team’s individuality and achievements beyond the office walls.
\n\n\n\nThis one’s a gem: Once in a while, switch roles with your employees for a day or a few hours. It’s a fun, eye-opening experience that shows your willingness to walk in their shoes. Plus, it’s a great way to understand their challenges and appreciate their contributions at a deeper level. Imagine the CEO taking customer calls or the manager doing the mail run – it’s a humble pie served with a side of laughter and learning.
\n\n\n\nKey Takeaway: Role-swapping is not just fun; it’s an empathy-building exercise that fosters mutual respect and understanding.
\n\n\n\nHere’s a simple yet powerful idea – set up a “Little Things” jar in the office. Encourage team members to drop notes of thanks or appreciation for small acts of kindness or help they received from their colleagues. At the end of each month, read the notes in a team meeting. It’s a heartwarming way to acknowledge the everyday heroes in your team.
\n\n\n\nKey Takeaway: The “Little Things” jar isn’t just about recognition; it’s about building a culture of mutual appreciation and support.
\n\n\n\nEveryone has a hobby or a skill they’re passionate about. Set up monthly “Skill-Share” sessions where team members can teach something they love, whether it’s a yoga class, a photography workshop, or a coding tutorial. It’s a great way to learn about each other’s interests and talents, and it can be a refreshing break from the regular work routine.
\n\n\n\nKey Takeaway: Skill-Share sessions are more than just learning opportunities; they are a platform for team members to showcase their passions and strengths, building a more connected and versatile team.
\n\n\n\nSo there you have it, five out-of-the-box ways to say thank you to your team. Remember, it’s not about grand gestures or hefty price tags; it’s about sincerity, creativity, and a dash of fun. By implementing these ideas, you’re not just thanking your team; you’re cultivating a vibrant, supportive, and deeply connected work culture. And the best part? You’ll likely find that this culture of gratitude doesn’t just make your team happier – it makes your business stronger, too.
\n\n\n\nIn the end, gratitude is the glue that binds a team together. It’s the acknowledgement that every person and every role is vital to the success of the enterprise. So go ahead, sprinkle some appreciation around – it’s the kind of investment that pays off in smiles, loyalty, and a thriving business.
\n\n\n\nDon’t forget, showing gratitude is an ongoing journey, not a one-time event. Keep your eyes peeled for those daily opportunities to express thanks and make your team feel like the superheroes they are. After all, a little ‘thank you’ can go a long way in writing the success story of your business.
\n\n\n\nHappy team-building, and stay grateful!
\nThese are the perfect ways to say thank you to your team if you don’t have a lot of money.
\n\n\n\nEver wonder why some teams click while others clunk? In my 35-year journey through the maze of virtual and multifunctional work teams, I’ve uncovered a secret ingredient: it’s not just about...
\n\n\n\nI’m starting to think that handwritten thank you notes are a lost art. I grew up sitting down at the dining room table writing thank you notes after I received any gift. I remember having my son write thank you notes before he could play with any gifts. In other words, handwritten thank you notes are important. So, since it’s national “Thank You Month” I thought I’d turn up the volume on this often poorly executed marketing tactic.
\n\n\n\nGratitude is the glue that binds business relationships. It’s a simple concept, yet it’s often lost in the noise of our digital age. In an era where a ‘thank you’ often arrives as an automated email or a fleeting social media comment, there’s a refreshing charm in resurrecting an old favorite: the thank you note. But hold your horses – we’re not talking about your grandma’s thank you cards. We’re diving into creative and unexpected ways to use thank you notes in your business, turning a simple act into a strategic tool.
\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nI remember receiving a thank you postcard from my oil change service and thinking, “Well, that’s nice, but… meh.” It felt as generic as a pre-recorded birthday greeting from my dentist. Don’t get me wrong; it’s not about being ungrateful. It’s about the impact, or the lack thereof, of a gesture that feels more like an obligation than a sincere act of appreciation.
\n\n\n\nIt’s time to rethink our approach to thank you cards in business. Let’s make them count, shall we?
\n\n\n\nPicture this: A local café sends a thank you note to its customers for just being a part of the neighborhood. The note includes a small packet of seeds with a message, “Help us grow our community garden.” Now, that’s a thank you note that plants a seed, literally and figuratively!
\n\n\n\nOr imagine a SaaS company sending handwritten notes to its long-term software subscribers, thanking them for their feedback over the years and detailing how it helped shape the product. That’s a thank you note that acknowledges and celebrates collaboration.
\n\n\n\nIn the end, it’s about making gratitude more than just a courtesy; it’s about turning it into a strategy. Thank you notes, especially those that are unexpected and creatively crafted, can be a powerful tool in your business arsenal. They can deepen relationships, build loyalty, and even open up new avenues for growth and collaboration.
\n\n\n\nLet’s sum it up with a checklist for you write your next thank you note:

There are real business threats out there, but which ones are worthy of your attention?
\n\n\n\nThis is the time of year we’re all wrapped up in optimism. Well, not everyone. There’s a few folks out there sitting in what my friend likes to call “their pee pants” and worrying about things.
\n\n\n\nJust to be clear, there are definitely things worth stressing over, and, at the same time, the things you’re worrying about are – well, useless.
\n\n\n\nI’ve been keeping a list of the things folks have told me they are worried about and a list of things I think they should really worry about.
\n\n\n\nAI is NOT taking over anytime soon. I know, the ChatGPT thing is incredible, and yes, AI has an IQ of 155 (Einstein was 160) and yes, they found out that AI can do math (this is a really big deal). But for AI to take over, there have to be SO MANY more advancements. We all know people with high IQs. who can do math and who can write a sentence, but that doesn’t make them ready to overtake humanity. Well, we all know people who can’t do any of these things and are threatening humanity, so we have a lot more important things to deal with today than AI taking over the world
\n\n\n\nLet me ease your mind. AI is evolving and that can be scary, but it’s going to take SO MUCH more research development and coordination to make that happen. Seriously, if you worked with AI (even a little bit) your mind would be eased.
\n\n\n\nShould you be concerned – sure, any amazing tool in the wrong hands can destroy humanity. Should you be afraid today? No.
\n\n\n\nSo, what should you be worried about when it comes to AI? Unless you’re a celebrity, public figure or politician, the likelihood of your voice and likeness being used against you is low. If you’re an online marketer or content creator, you should definitely keep an eye out for people swiping your content and making it yours.
\n\n\n\nBut don’t live in fear.
\n\n\n\nRead More:
\n\n\n\nThis article from MIT will help you breathe easier
\n\n\n\nThis is something you really SHOULD be afraid of. Yes, the meaning of words evolves over time, but we’ve been experiencing “Language Inflation” for so long that we’ve become desensitized to such an extent that we’ve become word-blind.
\n\n\n\nWhat’s language inflation? Language inflation refers to the devaluation of the meaning of words over time. As marketers, we are the biggest offenders. Think about the use of words like awesome, epic, guru, ninja, transformation, genius, ridiculous, etc. You’ve seen these words used on sales pages, advertisements, and social posts so much that they really don’t mean anything anymore.
\n\n\n\nThis is so real that when Threads and ChatGPT launched the joke in marketing circles was how long before people start calling themselves gurus and experts and start selling courses. (It actually took less than 48 hours before I saw the first courses pop up).
\n\n\n\nThis doesn’t do anyone any favors. Sure, there are those folks who want to attract the “suckers” who take them up on their offers, but all that’s going to do is increase your rate of dissatisfied customers.
\n\n\n\nThere’s an old saying out there that anything taken to its extreme becomes the opposite. And I’m guessing that you’ve experienced this as both a consumer and a marketer.
\n\n\n\nAnd the consequences are already obvious, customer complaints are up, and I’m seeing so many digital marketers going overboard to drive attendance and sales to everything.
\n\n\n\nThe answer isn’t louder language – the answer is in the experience and results you create.
\n\n\n\nIt’s more important than ever to work on identifying your ideal customer, their issues and problems and doing everything you can to solve them quickly and affordably.
\n\n\n\nAnd, we’re back to the impact of AI on website traffic. I’m not sure if we’re short-sighted or stupid here. Maybe I’m just old enough to have lived through a couple MASSIVE technology shifts like HDTV and the internet to know that a new technology means that how we do things is going to change, but the underlying outcome will always be necessary.
\n\n\n\nFor example, getting access to information will always be with us. HOW we access information has changed.
\n\n\n\nI used to go to the library and sit there for hours sifting through card catalogs and microfiche, wandering through stacks, and taking notes. A simple essay would take me 20 hours to write because I had to spend 5 hours at the library, 5 hours taking notes and 10 hours at the typewriter retyping pages over and over again because they weren’t lined up properly to fit the footnotes exactly 1 inch from the bottom.
\n\n\n\nNow, this same essay would take about 5 hours because I didn’t have to drive and sit in a library, I could look sources up on Google, and I can type it up on my computer. The output is the same, the technology of how I got there has changed.
\n\n\n\nLet’s get back to website traffic.
\n\n\n\nNow, 40 years later, Google is the library and AI search is the new internet. And it’s my opinion that this is a great thing. Here’s why.
\n\n\n\nWhen you do a Google search, you get a list of what Google thinks are sources that are most likely to answer your question. You click around reading each one. That’s a lot of time wasted on sites that don’t have the answer you’re looking for. And that translates to traffic with a high bounce rate and Google dings you for that. So that traffic wasn’t REAL traffic.
\n\n\n\nWith new search engines like Perplexity.ai (and Bing and Google eventually) the AI will search through PAGES of traffic based on your question. That means that if you create very specific content that’s targeted to your ideal customer and the questions and problems they are solving, well, your site will get found.
\n\n\n\nBut wait – it gets even better. The traffic you DO get will be more qualified traffic.
\n\n\n\nLet me explain.
\n\n\n\nWhen you get a summarized result from the AI:
\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nYou’ll have a summary of answers with sources. So when you decide to actually click on one of those sources, you will spend MORE time there because you’ve already seen the result.
\n\n\n\nHere is that same search on Google.
\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nNotice how the AI has skipped the sponsored ads and given you its choices for where to start your research.
\n\n\n\nWhen you click on any of these “footnotes” searches, you’re going to spend MORE TIME there because the AI has already sifted through what it thinks is the irrelevant content.
\n\n\n\nPersonally, I think this is great for search because it will (once again) force us into creating helpful content for our audience and NOT for the search engines.
\n\n\n\nFor as long as online content has been around, successful content marketers have told you to write for your audience, this is one thing that hasn’t changed, nor will it change. So relax.
\n\n\n\nEvery new technological advancement will look like it’s eliminating jobs – but it’s not. Instead it’s shifting the focus of the job from something manual and mindless to something automated and mechanical.
\n\n\n\nLook at it this way.
\n\n\n\nWriters will become editors and word artists – creators and AI will work hand in hand – just like engineers and calculators. Instead of using your brain to do tedious tasks, the AI will shift and push us to become BETTER at creating the desired outcome.
\n\n\n\nStart playing with AI tools right now, learn how to engage and how to generate output. Give yourself time to be in awe of how good it is and to also experience how bad it is at being human.
\n\n\n\nI’m sorry, but stuff like this is what tells me that people that make rules have never used the tool.
\n\n\n\nDo you label every document you create on your computer with “This document was written on a computer.” Do you label every calculation or spreadsheet with “These numbers were calculated in Excel” – NO you do not because we all recognize that these are tools that help us get to our desired outcome faster.
\n\n\n\nAI is not a person, AI is a tool. It’s a machine that helps us do our work faster to get to a desired outcome.
\n\n\n\nEven today we have ghost writers who create content that was never labeled “written by a ghost writer”, we have designers who create content for us and who are never given credit.
\n\n\n\nAI is no different than your computer, your calculator, or any person you hire to do something on your behalf.
\n\n\n\nEconomic disruptions are scary, and definitely worthy of fear. But when you take a minute to understand why we fear disruptions, it’s because we go through our lives thinking that they aren’t going to happen. So when they do, we freak out.
\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe real question is WHY? It’s not a question of “if” a disruption will happen, it’s a question of “when”. In fact, even the “when” isn’t a question. You can expect some type of economic disruption about every 2 years (give or take).
\n\n\n\nSo, you shouldn’t be afraid of disruptions, you should set yourself up to withstand the next one.
\n\n\n\n1. Build a Diverse Revenue Stream: Don’t put all your eggs in one basket. If your business relies solely on one product, service, or customer base, you’re more vulnerable during economic downturns. Diversifying your revenue streams can help stabilize your income. Think about introducing complementary products or services, exploring new markets, or even offering digital products that aren’t as affected by physical market changes.
\n\n\n\n2. Maintain a Lean Operation: Keeping your expenses as low as possible without sacrificing quality is key. This doesn’t mean cutting corners but being smart about where your money goes. Invest in technology that improves efficiency. Outsource non-core activities. Streamline your processes. During times of economic uncertainty, a lean operation can pivot and adapt much faster than a bloated one.
\n\n\n\n3. Cultivate Strong Relationships with Customers and Suppliers: Strong relationships can be your safety net. Loyal customers are more likely to stick with you during tough times. Keep them engaged and appreciated. Similarly, good relationships with suppliers can lead to more flexible payment terms or better deals, which can be a lifesaver when cash flow is tight. Remember, in business, relationships are often as valuable as the product or service you offer.
\n\n\n\nBy implementing these strategies, you’re not just preparing for potential economic disruptions; you’re building a more resilient, agile business capable of thriving in any climate.
\n\n\n\nIn wrapping up, let’s remember that fear, especially in the business world, often stems from the unknown or misunderstood. But here’s a twist: instead of letting fear grip you, let it be a trigger to wield your ‘SWOT sword’ – a tool to dissect, understand, and ultimately conquer these challenges.
\n\n\n\nWhen you hear a report or trend that triggers fear, reframe it as a ‘threat’ in your SWOT analysis. This isn’t just fear-mongering; it’s a call to action, an opportunity to revisit and refresh your SWOT analysis. Look beyond the surface of these reports and trends. What opportunities are lurking beneath the immediate threat? How can you adapt and evolve?
\n\n\n\nPsychologists say that fear often comes from not having enough information about something. So, if you’re not fully grasping the basics, you’re more susceptible to misinformation. Don’t just take things at face value. Return to the very definitions of what’s being discussed, understand the economic mechanisms behind the reports, and most importantly, analyze.
\n\n\n\nAs you navigate through AI advancements, language inflation, shifts in online marketing, or economic disruptions, keep your SWOT analysis close. It’s your secret weapon to turn threats into triumphs, fear into foresight, and challenges into opportunities for growth and innovation.
\n\n\n\nEmbrace each challenge not with fear, but with curiosity and strategic thinking. That’s how you’ll not just survive, but thrive, no matter what the business world throws your way.
\nThere are real business threats out there, but which ones are worthy of your attention?

Goodbye, social media frenzy; hello, smarter marketing in the AI revolution.
\n\n\n\nLately, I’ve noticed my social media feed isn’t buzzing like it used to. Fewer personal stories, more ads, and let’s not even start on the bots and misinformation. It’s like walking through a once-vibrant neighborhood that’s lost its charm. This change had me scratching my head until I stumbled upon a Gartner study that hit the nail on the head.
\n\n\n\nHere’s the scoop: By 2025, a whopping 50% of consumers are expected to either ditch or drastically reduce their social media interactions. The reasons? A cocktail of misinformation, increasingly toxic interactions, and an overabundance of bots turning what was once a digital utopia into a bit of a dystopia.
\n\n\n\nAdd AI content into the mix coupled with a general mistrust of institutions, and you can see where this is going.
\n\n\n\nIn this evolving landscape, brands are scrambling to adapt. By 2027, 20% are expected to differentiate themselves by steering clear of AI in their products and services, acknowledging the growing AI apprehension among consumers.
\n\n\n\nMeanwhile, 80% of marketers will be leaning into generative AI (GenAI) for that edge in content creation by 2026. And, hold onto your hats – organic search traffic for brands is projected to take a nosedive by half as GenAI-powered search engines gain momentum by 2028. To cap it off, 60% of CMOs are gearing up to invest in authenticity technologies by 2026, bracing themselves against the onslaught of GenAI-generated fakery.
\n\n\n\nThis isn’t just a few ripples in the digital marketing pond; it’s a tidal wave of change. Both marketers and brands have to ride this wave with agility and foresight.
\n\n\n\nHow, you ask? Buckle up, because I’m about to dive into eight strategies that will not only help you surf these changes but maybe even do a few fancy tricks along the way.
\n\n\n\nEver felt like putting all your eggs in one basket, especially a social media-shaped one, might not be the best idea?
\n\n\n\nYou’re not alone. It’s time to explore the vast world of marketing channels beyond the usual suspects. Think of it as expanding your social circle – some friends are great for coffee chats (hello, email marketing), while others are perfect for adventure (I’m looking at you, webinars and podcasts). Here’s how to make new friends in the marketing world:
\n\n\n\nStep 1: Identify Alternative Channels – Look beyond social media. Consider channels like podcasts, webinars, influencer collaborations, or local community events.
\n\n\n\nStep 2: Create a Multi-Channel Strategy – Develop a plan that integrates different channels. For instance, use email marketing to complement your social media efforts. Tools like Mailchimp or Constant Contact are great for managing email campaigns.
\n\n\n\nStep 3: Measure and Optimize – Track the performance of each channel with tools like Google Analytics. This data will help you refine your approach and focus on the most effective channels.
\n\n\n\nIn a world brimming with skepticism, being the brand that stands out as trustworthy is like finding an oasis in a desert. It’s about showing your true colors and being as transparent as crystal. Think of it as building a relationship based on trust with your customers, where honesty is the best policy and your word is your bond. Ready to be that breath of fresh air? Let’s dive in:
\n\n\n\nStep 1: Transparency in Communications – Regularly communicate with your audience about your business practices and values. Use platforms like blogs or newsletters to share behind-the-scenes insights.
\n\n\n\nStep 2: Engage with Customer Feedback – Actively respond to reviews and comments, whether positive or negative. Tools like Trustpilot can help manage and showcase customer feedback.
\n\n\n\nStep 3: Create Authentic Content – Use real-life stories and testimonials. Tools like StoryChief can help in creating and distributing authentic content across multiple platforms.
\n\n\n\nAI is like that new, flashy tool everyone’s talking about – powerful, but with great power comes great responsibility.
\n\n\n\nUsing AI ethically in your business is like being a superhero who uses their powers for the greater good. It’s about striking that perfect balance between cutting-edge tech and the human touch. Let’s put on our capes and explore how to use AI responsibly:
\n\n\n\nStep 1: Choose the Right AI Tools – Select AI tools that enhance customer experience without compromising privacy. A tool like ChatGPT for customer service queries can be a start.
\n\n\n\nStep 2: Transparency About AI Usage – Clearly inform your customers when AI is being used, for example, in chatbots or personalized recommendations.
\n\n\n\nStep 3: Human Oversight – Ensure there is human oversight in AI-driven processes. This balance can be critical in maintaining an ethical approach.
\n\n\n\nIn the age of copy-paste and fake news, being genuine is like wearing a rare, vintage jacket in a sea of fast fashion. Investing in content authenticity sets you apart as the real deal. It’s like having a truth detector that shields your brand from the world of make-believe. Ready to keep it real? Here’s how:
\n\n\n\nStep 1: Use Verification Tools – Implement tools like Factmata or Grammarly’s plagiarism checker to ensure content authenticity.
\n\n\n\nStep 2: Develop a Fact-Checking Protocol – Establish an internal process for fact-checking all content before publication.
\n\n\n\nStep 3: Educate Your Audience – Create awareness about misinformation and educate your audience on how to identify authentic content.
\n\n\n\nPicture this: You’re playing a game of hide and seek with AI as the seeker, and your content is what it’s looking for.
\n\n\n\nWith AI reshaping search engines, the rules of the game have changed. Your content might no longer be hiding on page two; it could be right in the spotlight, or it might need a little push to get there.
\n\n\n\nThis new AI-driven search era isn’t about gaming the system; it’s about crafting content that’s the perfect answer to your audience’s questions. It’s like being a detective, piecing together clues to solve the mystery of what your audience truly needs. Ready to play detective? Here’s how you can adapt:
\n\n\n\nStep 1: Update SEO Strategies – Adapt your SEO to voice and visual search trends. Tools like Moz or SEMrush can help analyze and improve SEO.
\n\n\n\nStep 2: Explore Alternative Search Engines – Don’t rely solely on Google. Look into other search engines like Bing or DuckDuckGo for advertising opportunities.
\n\n\n\nStep 3: Try Paid Search – Google Ads is a pay to play option that just might be more cost effective than your existing trial and error DIY marketing option.
\n\n\n\nImagine walking into your favorite store – the one where they know your name and your coffee order. That feeling of being understood and valued?
\n\n\n\nThat’s the golden ticket in today’s marketing world. Prioritizing customer experience is like being the best host at the party, ensuring every guest feels special. Let’s roll out the red carpet:
\n\n\n\nStep 1: Enhance Website Usability – Ensure your website is user-friendly, mobile-responsive, and fast-loading. Tools like Hotjar can provide insights into user behavior on your website.
\n\n\n\nStep 2: Personalize Interactions – Use data to personalize the customer experience. Tools like HubSpot can help in creating personalized email campaigns and content.
\n\n\n\nStep 3: Provide Excellent Customer Service – Implement tools like Zendesk or Freshdesk for efficient customer service management.
\n\n\n\nThere’s something magical about hearing a story straight from the horse’s mouth. User-generated content is like having a chorus of voices, each singing praises about your brand in their unique way.
\n\n\n\nIt’s authentic, it’s personal, and it resonates. Let’s turn the mic over to our customers and let them do some talking:
\n\n\n\nStep 1: Encourage UGC Creation – Run campaigns that encourage users to share their experiences with your brand. Use hashtags or contests to promote UGC.
\n\n\n\nStep 2: Showcase UGC – Feature user content on your website, social media, or advertising. Tools like Yotpo can help aggregate and display UGC.
\n\n\n\nStep 3: Engage with the Community – Actively engage with users who create content for your brand. This builds community and encourages more UGC.
\n\n\n\nThis is always the last step. And here’s something no one tells you. It’s the one step a lot of marketers skip. Most people try something, and when they don’t get the results they were hoping for, they move on to something else.
\n\n\n\nThis is not the way to win.
\n\n\n\nIf you choose a campaign that you like and leverages your natural strengths, you’re not going to get amazing results at first. You have to start somewhere and then you have to improve and optimize them. That’s just how it works.
\n\n\n\nStep 1: Use Analytics Tools – Regularly monitor marketing performance using tools like Google Analytics or Tableau.
\n\n\n\nStep 2: Conduct Market Research – Stay updated with market trends and consumer behavior. Tools like SurveyMonkey can help gather consumer insights.
\n\n\n\nStep 3: Be Agile – Be prepared to pivot your strategies based on performance data and market trends. Agility in marketing is key to staying relevant.
\n\n\n\nAs we wrap up this whirlwind tour through the ever-evolving landscape of digital marketing, remember: it’s not about trying to juggle all these strategies at once. That’s like trying to bake a dozen different recipes in one oven – messy and overwhelming. Instead, pick the path that resonates most with you and your brand. It could be focusing on authentic content, diving into the new world of AI in search, or maybe harnessing the power of user-generated content.
\n\n\n\nThink of each strategy as a seed you’re planting in your marketing garden. Some will sprout quickly; others might take a bit more time and nurturing. And hey, it’s perfectly fine to realize that a strategy isn’t working out as you’d hoped. The beauty of this digital age is its flexibility and room for experimentation. Adjust, pivot, and keep moving forward.
\n\n\n\nSo, take a moment to reflect on these ideas, choose your starting point, and begin your journey. Tend to your marketing strategies with care, give them time to grow, and don’t be afraid to prune and adjust as you go along. In the end, it’s about finding what works best for you and your unique brand. Here’s to your success in navigating the thrilling, dynamic world of digital marketing!
\nGoodbye, social media frenzy; hello, smarter marketing in the AI revolution.
\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nLately, I’ve noticed my social media feed isn’t buzzing like it used to. Fewer personal stories, more ads, and let’s not even start on the bots and misinformation. It’s like walking through a once-vibrant...
Discover how nostalgia marketing tactics are being reinvented to charm and engage modern audiences, blending nostalgia with innovation.
\n\n\n\nRemember the days when marketing meant a catchy jingle on the radio, a memorable slogan in the newspaper, or that larger-than-life billboard downtown? Well, strap in your seat belts, entrepreneurs, because we’re taking a trip down memory lane – with a twist! It turns out, some of those “old-school” marketing techniques are making a roaring comeback, this time with a digital spin. And guess what? They’re working wonders.
\n\n\n\nRetro marketing isn’t just about reminiscing; it’s about reviving the best of the past and giving it a modern-day makeover. Let’s explore how these tried-and-true nostalgia marketing strategies are getting a fresh lease on life.
\n\n\n\nIn this article you’re going to get a ton of nostalgia marketing idea, but there’s so much more to it than that. Like all things marketing, you’re going to have to go through the entire marketing process to see where you can introduce nostalgia marketing into your marketing campaigns.
\n\n\n\nIdentify the cultural memories that are pertinent to your target audience. Different generations relate to various cultural references, so it’s essential to know the age bracket, pastimes, media habits, and other characteristics of your audience
\n\n\n\nNostalgia marketing campaigns might be launched alongside a change in business goals, a rebranding, or a key event such as an anniversary. They may also be launched alongside a cultural event such as a holiday or a significant sports event
\n\n\n\nPrompt the target audience to reflect on their past experiences with the brand. The brand might re-release older iterations or designs of its product to evoke a sense of nostalgia
\n\n\n\nA nostalgia marketing campaign shouldn’t be all about the past. It should be modern in some way. The campaign should include modern references or touchpoints that renew the concept, idea, or product, offering something new while creating an emotional hook using nostalgia
\n\n\n\nRemember the excitement of getting a personalized letter or postcard? Direct mail, once considered outdated, is now a breath of fresh air in a digital-heavy world. Personalized, tangible, and surprisingly novel, it’s cutting through the digital clutter like a hot knife through butter.
\n\n\n\nDirect mail, with its physical presence, offers a sense of authenticity and personal touch that’s hard to replicate online. But here’s the kicker – when combined with digital data analytics, direct mail becomes a targeted, powerful tool. Imagine sending out postcards to only those customers who’ve shown interest in your product online. It’s like matchmaking in marketing!
\n\n\n\nWe all have that one jingle that, no matter how many years pass, remains stuck in our heads. Jingles are making a comeback, but this time, they’re taking over digital platforms like Spotify and YouTube.
\n\n\n\nA catchy tune is now a click away from going viral.
\n\n\n\nThe key? Relatability and a dash of humor. A jingle that makes someone laugh or nod in agreement is likely to be shared, saved, and even sung along to. And with today’s technology, producing a catchy tune isn’t just for big players; even small businesses can create jingles that resonate.
\n\n\n\nPersonal selling used to mean door-to-door salesmen. Today, it’s about live demos and webinars. The personal touch hasn’t lost its charm; it’s just gone virtual.
\n\n\n\nWebinars and live demos give you the opportunity to interact with your audience in real-time. It’s the digital equivalent of a handshake and a smile. You can answer questions, offer personalized advice, and build a relationship that feels authentic and engaging.
\n\n\n\nMagazine and newspaper ads once ruled the marketing world. Today, niche publications and local newspapers offer a targeted platform for your ads, with a loyal and engaged readership.
\n\n\n\nWhat’s old is new again. Old fashioned marketing materials, print ads in niche publications can reach a highly engaged audience. Combine this with a QR code or a unique URL, and you’re bridging the gap between the tactile and digital worlds, offering a multi-dimensional experience to your audience.
\n\n\n\nGuerrilla marketing, known for its creative, unconventional methods, is back. Think flash mobs, street art, and pop-up events – but with social media sharing to amplify the impact.
\n\n\n\nThe key to successful guerrilla marketing is surprise and delight. It’s about creating an experience that people want to share with their networks. In today’s social media age, a well-executed guerrilla campaign can reach far beyond its physical location.
\n\n\n\nWord of mouth has always been powerful. Now, it’s supercharged with online reviews, influencer marketing, and social shares.
\n\n\n\nEncourage your satisfied customers to leave online reviews, share their experiences on social media, and become brand advocates. The trust and credibility that come from real people sharing their positive experiences are invaluable.
\n\n\n\nStorytelling isn’t new, but the platforms and tools we use to tell stories are. From brand history to customer success stories, sharing narratives that resonate with your audience has never been more powerful.
\n\n\n\nStories create connections. Whether it’s through a blog post, a video, or an Instagram story, sharing your brand’s journey or highlighting customer experiences in a storytelling format can captivate and engage your audience.
\n\n\n\nGone are the days when business cards were just a piece of paper. Now, they’re digital, interactive, and more powerful than ever.
\n\n\n\nDigital business cards can be shared with a click, updated instantly, and they’re eco-friendly. Embed a QR code that leads to a special offer or your LinkedIn profile, and voilà – networking in the digital era just got a major upgrade.
\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBillboards, the giants of advertising, are now entering the digital realm. Think massive LED displays and interactive elements that catch the eye like never before.
\n\n\n\nDigital billboards can display dynamic content, change messages based on time or weather, and even interact with smartphones. This modern twist on a classic medium offers unprecedented engagement opportunities.
\n\n\n\nThe radio jingle era has evolved into the age of podcasts. It’s radio reinvented – intimate, on-demand, and with a niche for every interest.
\n\n\n\nBy sponsoring a podcast or starting your own, you can reach a highly engaged audience. Tailor your message to fit the podcast’s theme, and you’ve got a captive audience who tunes in by choice – a marketer’s dream.
\n\n\n\nOnce the staple of local advertising, flyers are now taking a new form on social media. Think eye-catching graphics and shareable posts that spread your message far and wide.
\n\n\n\nSocial media posts are the digital flyers of today. They can go viral, reach a specific demographic, and spark conversations. Plus, they’re easy to create, distribute, and track.
\n\n\n\nThe pandemic made webinars a standard, but people are flocking to live events. Only this time, most live events have a webinar or online live option. That means you can reach a broader audience by offering both in-person and virtual experience
\n\n\n\nHybrid events are the new normal, allowing brands to extend their reach beyond physical boundaries. Plus, they’re easier to promote than ever before thanks to digital marketing tools and platforms. With hybrid events, companies can make sure their message is heard loud and clear.
\n\n\n\nClassified ads in newspapers were the go-to for local deals. Today, online marketplaces have taken over, offering a vast, searchable, and interactive platform for buying and selling.
\n\n\n\nPlatforms like Craigslist, eBay, and Facebook Marketplace have revolutionized the way we advertise and shop. They’re the modern-day classifieds – bigger, better, and more accessible than ever.
\n\n\n\nSponsoring local events used to be a surefire way to get your brand noticed. Now, brand sponsorships have taken to social media, with influencers acting as the new event stages.
\n\n\n\nInfluencer marketing is like sponsoring a one-person event. Choose an influencer whose audience aligns with your target market, and your brand gets exposed to a whole new, engaged community.
\n\n\n\nThe era of cold calls has given way to the era of chatbots – providing instant, personalized customer service without picking up the phone.
\n\n\n\nChatbots on your website or social media can answer queries, gather data, and even close sales, all while providing a personalized experience to each user.
\n\n\n\nRemember those punch cards that promised a freebie after ten purchases? They’ve evolved into sophisticated app-based loyalty programs, offering rewards at the tap of a screen.
\n\n\n\nModern loyalty programs are all about convenience and personalization. They offer targeted rewards, collect valuable customer data, and keep your brand top-of-mind – all through a user-friendly app.
\n\n\n\nAnd there we have it – a nostalgic yet innovative journey through the world of marketing. These ten retro strategies, reimagined for the digital age, prove that the classics never really go out of style; they just get better with time. So go ahead, embrace these timeless tactics and watch your marketing efforts soar into the future with a touch of the past’s charm. Remember, in the world of marketing, sometimes the old ways are the new shortcut to success.
\nDiscover how nostalgia marketing tactics are being reinvented to charm and engage modern audiences, blending nostalgia with innovation.
\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nRemember the days when marketing meant a catchy jingle on the radio, a memorable slogan in the newspaper, or that larger-than-life billboard down...
Entrepreneurs are betting on these 2024 marketing trends and strategies for 2024 — and I’m scratching my head.
\n\n\n\nEvery morning I open up my news tab and scroll through the headlines and the trends. And the one thing that stood out to me is that every day the “What’s hot” and “What’s on trend” just seems to rotate and ultimately — to me it feels like there’s nothing new under the sun.
\n\n\n\nTo me, it’s like sequel city over here. It literally feels like (other than AI) the trends that we were watching 20 years ago are still evolving and it honestly feels like — anything goes.
\n\n\n\nSo, if everything goes, what should you, as an entrepreneur focus on? That’s what I said, so I asked 15 members of my community and here’s what they said.
\n\n\n\nNow, I don’t think that I would call “green” a trend, I actually think that green and eco has absolutely gone mainstream.
\n\n\n\nWhat’s driving this trend?
\n\n\n\nMillennials and Gen Z customers grew up when the green and eco trend became a “thing” and now it’s mainstream. So if you or your business are even remotely eco focused – make this a part of your marketing.
\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n \nI think that the world of entrepreneurship is constantly evolving, and what’s considered “hot” can change rapidly. However, what I have seen recently is that sustainable and eco-friendly startups have become something of a lot of interest. Sustainability is a growing concern, and many entrepreneurs are focusing on businesses that prioritize eco-friendliness and sustainability. This includes companies involved in renewable energy, upcycling, zero-waste products, and ethical fashion. These startups are not only making a positive impact but also proving to be economically viable in a world increasingly conscious of sustainability and eco-responsibility.
But there’s another subtle influence that’s turning up the volume here — research shows that consumers want companies, corporations, brands, and even small businesses to take a stand around just about any issue. So if eco is your thing – sing it from the rooftops.
\n\n\n\nTodays consumers (yes, even the B2B ones) have this “been there, done that, bought all the t-shirts) attitude about everything. In other words, you can’t surprise anyone. But when you do — it’s amazing.
\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n \nBrand collaborations are a big deal right now, and it’s a great opportunity for entrepreneurs to put their business in front of new eyeballs. By collaborating with other companies and influencers, you leverage their existing customer and follower-base, which is far more effective than other forms of digital marketing. Whatever your entrepreneurial idea is, look for ways to partner up with other, bigger-name brands.
Jason Vaught, Director of Content, SmashBrand
Partnering has always been a thing. But since we all have the attention span of a flea that can’t be shocked by anything, you’ve got to level your collaboration game up!
\n\n\n\nHow?
\n\n\n\nDo the unexpected — Here’s what you need in place to have a successful collaboration. This list comes from EQL, an agency specializing in collaborations:
\n\n\n\nI can’t end this without mentioning that creating surprising collaborations is not without it’s risks — Dylan Mulvaney and Bud Light anyone? For all intents and purposes, this should have worked, it fit all the elements of the above. Except that it didn’t.
\n\n\n\nHere are some that did:
\n\n\n\nThe idea here was to do a mashup of Nike’s “Just Do It” energy with Tiffany’s timeless beauty and elegance. You get the meta message there, right. It worked.
\n\n\n\nHere’s another one I loved.
\n\n\n\nThis is such an intuitive and yet surprising collaboration. It has all the feels.
\n\n\n\nBack in graduate school we did a project that compared companies who “did the right thing” (I’ll let you define that for yourself) vs companies who were completely profit driven and guess which one was more profitable over time?
\n\n\n\nThe do-gooder. No lie.
\n\n\n\nSo let’s take this to it’s logical conclusion. If today’s consumers want companies to take a stand on social issues, and doing the right thing is actually profitable. then if you’re passionate about something, you can certainly turn it into a thriving business.
\n\n\n\nSome call this group the “Passion to Profit” crowd, other call the heart centered. But whatever you call them, know that it’s a thing.
\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n \nSocial entrepreneurship refers to the use of entrepreneurial principles and techniques to create and implement innovative solutions to social, cultural, or environmental issues. It combines business strategies with a desire for positive change, making it an attractive career path for many individuals who want to make a difference in the world while also running a successful business.
Zach Shelley, Founder and CEO, A-List Properties
No one reads anymore and most people would rather spend 90 minutes scrolling through their TikTok than watch a movie. Content is getting shorter and shorter (unlike this article)
\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n \nShort-form content is preferred over long-form content. People dislike reading bulky introductions. They’re impatient, and their attention span has decreased significantly. This has heavily impacted people’s content consumption patterns. The result is a rising demand for short-form videos, carousels, short posts, etc. For entrepreneurs, this means creating snappy content pieces that attract attention. Modern entrepreneurs can leverage platforms like TikTok, YouTube Shorts, and LinkedIn to establish thought leadership by capturing users’ attention in this fast-paced digital age.
Shivbhadrasinh Gohil, CMO and Co-Founder, Meetanshi
This worries me. It’s like we’re trading healthy habits for convenience and hey, I like pizza as much as the other person, but eventually, you have GOT to eat some vegetables.
\n\n\n\nIn other words, we’re on this continuous trend toward shorter and shorter content, but we’re sacrificing nuance, understanding, and I’m sorry to say this — a level of intelligence that comes from deep reading and understanding.
\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWhen I think about consuming content, I think about content as knowledge and energy. Sure, you can drink your protein, but a steak is so much more rewarding.
More than 20 years in and we’re still trying to figure out social. But you know who’s figured it out — retailers!
\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n \nFrom marketing and engaging customers to generating leads and closing sales, it all happens on social media. These platforms are designed to eliminate any bottlenecks between sellers and buyers. However, sellers must participate meaningfully on these platforms to grow their following. Luckily, it’s a worthy investment. Social media is expected to grow into a half-a-trillion-dollar industry by 2025.
Young Pham, Founder and Project Manager, Biz Report
From the TikTok Shop to Facebook and even Facebook Marketplace social has truly become a public square.
\n\n\n\nNow there are folks out on social bragging about their millions, but if you’re like most of us – you don’t believe them, and you shouldn’t.
\n\n\n\nPeople are tired, cynical, untrusting and broke. This is going to make them much savvier consumers in every way. So if you’re retailing on social, make building trusting relationships a priority.
\n\n\n\nAmong entrepreneurs, we’re seeing the rise of those catering to increasingly niche markets. For instance, the thriving trend of “micro-niche” businesses within the podcast industry involves brands that opt for highly specialized show topics, like in-depth discussions about the history of tea ceremonies in Japan, or the life stories of well-known artists. This underscores the shift towards hyper-personalization in audio content specifically. In a world where consumers crave products and services tailored to their exact desires, entrepreneurs who can identify and tap into these niche markets are not only meeting demand but also fostering a loyal and enthusiastic customer base, leading to remarkable business growth and profitability. If you’re considering a new venture, it’s time to think small to win big!
Harry Morton, Founder, Lower Street
I always like to say that “You can’t sell anything to everybody”. It’s counter-intuitive but it’s so true. Your brain is telling you that if you focus you’re missing out on customers, but just the opposite is true. When you select a hyper-targeted, hyper engaged audience, they’re going to come out of the woodwork – like flies to honey. (ok, kinda gross but you get it)
\n\n\n\nYears ago Facebook used this idea to promote their new “Facebook Groups” to show people that no matter what you’re into – there’s a community that shares that interest.
\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThis whole remote working “trend” has been happening for about 25 years. Heck, I started working from home in 1999 and went fully into the cloud in the early 2000s. So, I’m not sure that remote work is a trend, as much as building empires from home.
\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n \nWork-from-home entrepreneurship is absolutely trending these days, and it will only continue to expand and grow in the coming years. There are so many new, successful entrepreneurs today who work exclusively from home and who rarely get to meet any of their employees, and yet, they are some of the most successful people on the web today. It’s exciting to watch and see where this trend goes.
Max Wesman, Chief Operating Officer, GoodHire
This trend is all about SCALING and growing a business virtually.
\n\n\n\nIt took us two decades to realize that we’re all more productive from home. It took us 2 years of pandemic to push the reluctant corporations into hybrid work (despite that data that shows that people love working from home and they’re more productive working from home).
\n\n\n\nBut the next two decades are going to be dedicated to cracking the code on remote scaling – building empires from home.
\n\n\n\nMobile apps and devices have opened up the world of multiple income streams, side hustles, and gig entrepreneurship.
\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n \nAt TechNews, we’ve seen how businesses are embracing this trend. Entrepreneurs are setting up gig schemes where professionals, like freelancers, are brought in on a project basis. It’s quite a shift from the traditional employment model. No hefty benefits to cover. No long-term labor commitments. And often, these gig workers come with their own gear, cutting down on overhead. They bring their own software and skills, do the job, and both sides can part ways with no strings attached. This flexibility is key in professional services. It saves costs and adapts to workflow needs. For entrepreneurs ready to pivot and scale, the gig economy is a hotbed of potential.
Neil Hodgson-Coyle, COO, TechNews180
I’m not sure where I stand with this. My question is always who benefits. If you’ve designed a successful gig business model that gives you everything you need and want in a career — more power to you.
\n\n\n\nAs for me, I’m not sure this is serving or contributing to #EntrepreneurLife — especially if your idea of entrepreneurship is having time and money for fun.
\n\n\n\nDid someone start a marketing campaign out there called “Hustles are HOT”? I don’t know, but if you have to work 12 hours a day for gigs that have to cover taxes, healthcare, your equipment, etc. then you need to take a step back.
\n\n\n\nAll that said – if you’re a knowledge worker, subject matter expert, and already have investments in tools, equipment, etc. and you already have healthcare — this is a boon to your business.
\n\n\n\nIt’s worked for me — but it may not work for everyone — do the math.
\n\n\n\nThe internet obliterated the old top-down communication model, and given everyone a platform. This can be a good thing or a bad thing.
\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n \nA compelling trend in entrepreneurship that’s hard to ignore is the democratization of technology. I’m excited about how, with the accessibility of tools, platforms, and information, entrepreneurs no longer need extensive technical backgrounds to innovate. Low-code and no-code development platforms, open-source resources, and online courses make it easier than ever to turn creative ideas into tech-driven startups. This democratization is fostering innovation and diversity in the entrepreneurial landscape.
Phil Strazzulla, Founder, SelectSoftware Reviews
Your customers are more cynical than ever, and that means that companies that invest in the “Trust” factor and sustain it will come out on top.
\n\n\n\nThis is where small business really has a leg up because of two very important factors:
\n\n\n\nNah, don’t you worry. AI isn’t taking your job any time soon. In fact AI needs human creativity in order to do a good job.
\n\n\n\nYour goal as an entrepreneur is to leverage AI’s strengths of speed, processing and analysis to make those tedious jobs go faster and easier.
\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n \nArtificial Intelligence is hot right now for many reasons, but one trend that’s caught our attention is the power of AI translation tools. We tested translating some English content to Mandarin since my partner is a native Mandarin speaker, and the results were eye-opening. The translations didn’t need human editing and read clearly, although we still recommend that a native speaker review the work for those edge cases. Still, this advancement in AI can save companies tons of resources when they want to put out content in multiple languages.
Scott Sidders, Co-Founder, Scott & Yanling Media Inc.
This trend is a subtle nod to the AI boom that hit in 2023 and that’s going to keep on giving. These large language models are democratizing applications, repetitive tasks to the point where a toddler can create an app to sell or run their business.
\n\n\n\nAgain, developers aren’t going anywhere. Why? because despite what they tell you about AI robots and AI being able to complete tasks, this all takes programming knowhow.
\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n \nOne trend that’s really heating up is the rise of no-code platforms. These platforms are democratizing the ability to create and innovate. Just the other day, I was chatting with a fellow entrepreneur who was raving about no-code tools and how they were able to launch an online marketplace without writing a single line of code.
This trend is a game-changer, especially for small businesses like mine. It allows us to compete with the big players by rapidly testing ideas and rolling out new services. For instance, I could use a platform like Bubble to add a booking system to my cleaning business website, making it super easy for my clients to schedule appointments. And the best part? I can do this without the hefty cost of hiring a developer.
It’s not just about cutting costs, though. No-code platforms are empowering. They give us, the non-technical entrepreneurs, the keys to the digital kingdom. We can now take our visions and turn them into reality, all on our own.

The Edelman Trust Barometer shows yet another year of declining trust. Consumers are tired of being lied to and they don’t know who to trust.
\n\n\n\nIf all you do is have the right people to do the right things right, you’re going to see results.
\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n \nAuthenticity is hot now, as people crave real connections and transparency from brands. Consumers want behind-the-scenes stories revealing motivations and values versus slick marketing. They expect stances on social causes, not neutrality. Startup founders are sharing imperfect journeys, not curating polished lies.
This thirst for authenticity has enabled new voices to thrive. Substack newsletters with distinct perspectives meet needs for honesty. Influencers candidly sharing mental health struggles build deep loyalty. Sustainability-focused brands attract Gen Z over profit-touting competitors.
The paradigm has shifted—perfection is out. Hard truths are in. There is power in having the courage to let your flaws show through your business. The hot trend is simple: be who you truly are. Authenticity above all else connects enterprises with the audiences they need most right now.

3M made intrapreneurship popular in the the 1960’s, then it resurfaced in the mid 80’s and then sort of took a back seat to cutting costs, buying back stock, and increasing profits.
\n\n\n\nWill 2024 see a resurgence of intrapreneurship? Our community thinks so.
\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n \nEntrepreneurship has been rapidly increasing as more people look to become their own boss and take control of their career.
One current trend that’s becoming increasingly popular is “intrapreneurship”. This type of entrepreneurship focuses on creating an innovative product or service directly within a company, instead of starting up their own business. An example could be utilizing pet projects, which involves employees who have autonomy over a certain project from the start phase right up to the launch phase.
This allows intrapreneurs to utilize resources from within their company, such as insight from colleagues at different levels and access to existing networks.
Through this approach, creativity can be truly unleashed, and new ideas tested without disrupting everyday operations in organizations. This is also a great way for professionals to “trial run” entrepreneurship, instead of making the leap, leaving full-time jobs, and going all-in on a startup idea.
Tasia Duske, CEO, Museum Hack
But what if you’re a solopreneur? How do you make intrapreneurship work? I’d say you can leverage the power of your outsourced team, you can team up with partners or other non-competing business owners and create a sort of working advisory board.
\n\n\n\nAfter three years of pandemic isolation and incessant Zoom meetings, people are ready to go love and in person.
\n\n\n\nLive events are back (with a hybrid option) and people are all for it.
\n\n\n\nBut another trend right now is having our favorite online stores IRL.
\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n \nPhysical locations are very “in” right now. Netflix is planning to open storefronts in the next two years. Apple is relying on in-store demos to showcase its new Apple Vision Pro. The largest companies in the world want to be hands-on—so do entrepreneurs.
There’s so much noise in the digital space right now that being present physically is becoming much more important. Consider this alongside our recent shift to digital-first remote environments, and you’ll see the full picture. Customers want to know you for themselves—having a physical presence, even if it’s not retail-oriented, is more important than ever.
Mark Varnas, Principal SQL Server DBA and Consultant, Red9
Consumers want a seamless experience from online to offline. Whether your’e a retail location, restaurant, lawyer, or consultant, take some time to think about creating real customer experiences.
\n\n\n\nA local retailer complained that people come to their store, try their stuff and buy it cheaper online. As a small business, you’re going to have to embrace this new behavior and take a fresh look at how you’re going to use your physical space to create the best customer experience while making it easy for customers to find and buy your product online.
\n\n\n\nWithin a week of ChatGPT launching, there were people on TIkTok, LinkedIn, Facebook and who knows where else claiming that they were an expert, guru, thought leader, etc. They were already selling courses, prompts, and claiming to make you a millionaire — within days of launching.
\n\n\n\nThis was so pervasive that my social media streams were filled with people joking about how long before we saw someone claiming to be a guru on the topic.
\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n \nThought leadership is very in right now. Generative AI has really obliterated the market for your run-of-the-mill educational content that ChatGPT does a better job of generating. To truly create something the AI doesn’t know, you have to rely on your internal subject-matter experts. This kind of content makes for great blog posts and can be repurposed on LinkedIn for additional reach. No matter the role or job title, leveraging the expertise of the people you have on staff works best for increasing your entrepreneurial success.

Thought leadership no longer means knowing a lot about something, we can look things up, hell, we can ask Alexa or ChatGPT.
\n\n\n\nIf you want to be thought leader, you have to do more than look good on social, you have to be more than an author. You’re going to need to be nimble, flexible, and have had the experience of swimming with the sharks and living to tell about it.
\n\n\n\nWhat does that mean?
\n\n\n\nIt means that experience matters. And by that I mean having access to experts at all age and experience levels. It means being able to harness the knowledge and wisdom across borders and simply make it make sense.
\nEntrepreneurs are betting on these 2024 marketing trends and strategies for 2024 — and I’m scratching my head.
\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nEvery morning I open up my news tab and scroll through the headlines and the trends. And the one thing that stood out to me is that every day the “What’s hot” and “What’s...
Boost your freelance success with top LinkedIn strategies
\n\n\n\nLike a lot of people, I started my business as a solopreneur – aka freelancer. Back then, I got new clients the hard way; I did live networking, referrals, meetings, and lots of calls. All I can tell you is that it wasn’t easy. I would have killed to have a tool like LinkedIn back then.
\n\n\n\nWhen LinkedIn launched, I was using it as a way to manage my referrals. But it wasn’t long before LinkedIn expanded its feature set that turned it into a hybrid job search platform, networking platform and pitchfest marketplace.
\n\n\n\nWe all get pitched on LinkedIn and let’s face it, it’s not fun. So then you shift to the opposite end of the spectrum and just engage and post. And that doesn’t really drive business as quickly as you’d like it to.
\n\n\n\nSo, how do you transform LinkedIn from just another social media platform into a powerful marketing tool? It’s all about optimizing your profile, building a strong network, showcasing your expertise, and leveraging the right tools and features. Read on to discover the top strategies for LinkedIn marketing for freelancers.
\n\n\n\nIf you’re a freelancer, your LinkedIn profile is more than just an online resume—it’s a showcase of your professional identity and a key channel for potential clients to discover your services. When you optimize your LinkedIn profile, you’re not just tidying up your digital footprint; you’re actively marketing your freelance business.
\n\n\n\nLet’s explore how best to highlight your skills and draw in a greater number of freelance projects.
\n\n\n\nEver heard the saying, “A picture is worth a thousand words?” Well, in the world of LinkedIn, a great profile picture can be worth a thousand connections.
\n\n\n\nHaving a professional profile picture boosts your credibility and can help catch the eye of potential clients. It’s super important to choose a high-resolution, recent headshot where your face takes up most of the frame. And remember, the background should be simple and not distracting.
\n\n\n\nAfter all, it’s you we want to focus on, not that tropical beach behind you.
\n\n\n\nThe headline of your LinkedIn profile is like a billboard on a busy highway—it needs to grab attention, fast! How might you make your headline noticeable? Try incorporating keywords, specific job titles, and unique selling points that showcase your expertise and niche. This can help you attract valuable leads for your freelance business and stand out among other freelancers.
\n\n\n\nKeep in mind, ideas are readily available with just a click! Check out what headlines freelance writers and other freelancers in similar roles are using to get the creative juices flowing.
\n\n\n\nHere are a few tips you can use:
\n\n\n\nCrafting a persuasive summary is like writing a compelling story—it needs to engage the reader and make them want to learn more. Your summary should show empathy by addressing potential client questions, highlight your experience and achievements, and keep it short and personal using the first person.
\n\n\n\nTake note, it’s not solely about your past accomplishments, but about the value you can offer to your ideal clients. Show them how your skills and achievements can solve their problems, and you’ll be sure to keep them hooked.
\n\n\n\nJust like a well-crafted profile is crucial for attracting potential clients, building a robust LinkedIn network is key to unlocking more opportunities and referrals for your freelance business. After all, your network is your net worth.
\n\n\n\nHow might you expand your network effectively? We’ll discuss initiation of meaningful relationships, navigation through LinkedIn Groups, and capitalizing on alumni and industry contacts.
\n\n\n\nInitiating meaningful connections on LinkedIn is like planting seeds in a garden—it takes time and care, but the results can be rewarding. When sending a connection request, always personalize your message and engage in a genuine way. We can discuss our common interests or the motivation behind your outreach. This will help us establish a stronger connection..
\n\n\n\nRemember, it’s not about quantity, but quality. Generating leads by building a network of relevant connections can help you cultivate valuable leads and grow your freelance business.
\n\n\n\nNobody talks about LinkedIn Groups any more. But they are a wonderful way to join or create a community around a topic that you’re an expert in.
\n\n\n\nLinkedIn Groups serve as your go-to cafes, facilitating connections, idea sharing, and discovery of opportunities. They’re hangout spots for people who share the same professional interests and can be a goldmine of opportunities for freelancers. Whether it’s job postings, networking, or gaining insights into your niche, LinkedIn Groups are a great tool to expand your network.
\n\n\n\nRemember that old saying, “It’s not what you know, but who you know?” Well, when it comes to LinkedIn networking, it’s both. Leveraging alumni and industry contacts can open up new connections and potential clients.
\n\n\n\nA combination of personalized messages, genuine interest, and offering value can foster professional relationships and deepen them over time.
\n\n\n\nContent is king, and on LinkedIn, it’s the queen too! Showcasing your expertise through content not only demonstrates your skills and knowledge but also makes you a valuable resource to your connections.
\n\n\n\nSo how do you generate content that strikes a chord with your audience, fosters engagement through thought-provoking posts and articles, and boosts appeal with visual elements and videos?
\n\n\n\nLet’s get started!
\n\n\n\nCreating content that resonates with your audience is like cooking a delicious meal—it needs to cater to their tastes. To do this, you need to understand your audience’s struggles, aims, and interests. Once you’ve got that down, you can craft messages that really speak to their needs.
\n\n\n\nWhether sharing tips, offering advice, or recounting personal experiences, your relevant content should remain valuable and engaging.
\n\n\n\nTry some of these:
\n\n\n\nEngaging with your audience is like having a two-way conversation—it’s not just about talking, but also about listening. Insightful posts and articles can lead to more in-depth conversations and increase your visibility on LinkedIn.
\n\n\n\nRemember, the focus isn’t solely on quantity but equally on quality. Make sure your content is well-researched, insightful, and provides value to your audience.
\n\n\n\nVisuals and videos are like the icing on the cake—they can enhance your content’s appeal and make it more enjoyable for your audience. Whether it’s infographics, images, or videos, these elements can make your content more interesting and memorable.
\n\n\n\nHence, don’t hesitate to employ visuals and videos to narrate your story and highlight your skills.
\n\n\n\nPersonalized marketing tactics can help you reach your target audience more effectively on LinkedIn. Whether it’s through direct messaging, tailored updates, or paid advertising, these strategies can help you connect with potential clients on a deeper level.
\n\n\n\nLet’s delve into mastering these tactics to capitalize on LinkedIn’s marketing features.
\n\n\n\nDirect messaging on LinkedIn is like the art of conversation—it needs to be genuine, engaging, and provide value. Whether you’re reaching out to a potential client or reconnecting with an old colleague, make sure your messages are personalized and purposeful. Bear in mind, each message presents an opportunity to foster a relationship and potentially generate leads for your freelance venture.
\n\n\n\nTailored updates are like personalized letters—they cater to the specific needs and interests of your audience. By understanding your audience’s needs, preferences, and behaviors, you can create updates that resonate with them. Whether it’s sharing industry news, offering tips and advice, or celebrating milestones, make sure your updates are relevant and engaging.
\n\n\n\nPaid advertising on LinkedIn can give your freelance business the spotlight it deserves. With targeted ads, you can:
\n\n\n\nWhether you’re new to paid advertising or an experienced marketer, LinkedIn’s advertising features can help you expand your reach and find new business opportunities.
\n\n\n\nJust like a storefront in a busy street, your LinkedIn profile needs to be easily found by potential clients. Optimizing your LinkedIn profile for search engine visibility can help clients find you more easily and increase your chances of landing freelance projects.
\n\n\n\nWe’ll examine how to optimize your profile with apt keywords and enhance your credibility with recommendations and endorsements.
\n\n\n\nIdentifying and using the right keywords is like speaking the same language as your potential clients—it makes it easier for them to find you. Whether you’re a freelance writer, designer, or consultant, using relevant keywords in your LinkedIn profile can improve your visibility in search results and attract more potential clients.
\n\n\n\nRecommendations and endorsements on LinkedIn are like digital word-of-mouth—they boost your credibility and validate your skills. Whether it’s a glowing recommendation from a satisfied client or an endorsement from a respected peer, these social proofs can enhance your profile’s credibility and improve your search engine rankings for LinkedIn users.
\n\n\n\nLinkedIn isn’t just a networking platform—it’s also equipped with a suite of tools and features that can help you showcase your work, connect with potential clients, and grow your freelance business. We’ll probe into making use of LinkedIn’s ‘Open to Work’ feature, determining the worthiness of LinkedIn Premium, and displaying your work samples in the Featured section. Additionally, knowing how to search LinkedIn effectively can further enhance your chances of finding new opportunities.
\n\n\n\nThe ‘Open to Work’ feature on LinkedIn is like a billboard—it announces to the world (or at least to recruiters and potential clients) that you’re ready for new opportunities. By signaling your availability for new projects, you can attract potential clients and increase your visibility on LinkedIn.
\n\n\n\nLinkedIn Premium is like a VIP pass—it gives you access to exclusive features and insights. But is it worth the investment for freelancers? It depends. You’ll need to weigh the benefits such as:
\n\n\n\nagainst the monthly cost, which can range from $29.99 to $79.99 depending on the tier.
\n\n\n\nThe Featured section on LinkedIn is like your personal art gallery—it’s where you can showcase your best work. Whether it’s a well-crafted article, a successful project, or a rave review from a client, displaying your work samples in the Featured section can demonstrate your expertise and attract potential clients.
\n\n\n\nEngaging with your audience and following up on interactions can keep you top of mind and potentially lead to new opportunities. Whether it’s leaving thoughtful comments on relevant posts or following up on profile views and interactions, these strategies can help you build relationships and maintain your LinkedIn presence.
\n\n\n\nCommenting on LinkedIn posts is like striking up a conversation—it can lead to meaningful interactions and potential connections. Leaving thoughtful comments on relevant posts can boost your visibility, demonstrate your expertise, and open up new networking opportunities.
\n\n\n\nDon’t hesitate—participate in the conversation and make your voice heard.
\n\n\n\nKeeping up with profile views and interactions is akin to sustaining a conversation, keeping you relevant and helping cultivate relationships.
\n\n\n\nWhether you’re thanking someone for viewing your profile, responding to a comment on your post, or following up on a connection request, timely and thoughtful follow-ups can help you build relationships and potentially lead to new opportunities.
\n\n\n\nWe’ve covered a lot of ground—from crafting a magnetic LinkedIn profile and building a robust network, to showcasing your expertise through content, leveraging LinkedIn tools and features, and implementing effective engagement strategies. Remember, LinkedIn is more than just a platform—it’s a powerful tool for freelancers to connect, showcase their expertise, and grow their business.
\n\n\n\nMaximize your LinkedIn presence to showcase your freelancing business. Complete your profile, update regularly, add relevant connections, keep in touch to build relationships, and add work samples to your profile. Consider Linked.Premium features to get more work and sharpen your skills.
\n\n\n\nYes, freelancers will be able to advertise their services and rates on LinkedIn’s Marketplaces service. Business owners will also be able to post projects they need freelancers for.
\n\n\n\nLinkedIn is a powerful tool for freelancers to reach a large network and find meaningful work. With its 774 million members, it’s an excellent platform for getting the word out about your services.
\n\n\n\nPut “Freelance” as your employment type and provide the name of the company or client you worked for. Include major accomplishments for a complete profile.
\n\n\n\nUpdate your profile with a professional headshot and an engaging headline. Showcase your skills and highlight how you can help potential clients by crafting a persuasive summary.

Distracted? I hear you. This book review of Indistractable, you’ll be inspired to stay focused and get more done.
\n\n\n\nAs an entrepreneur, my days often feel like a high-speed chase through an endless to-do list. One minute, I’m deep-diving into market research, the next I’m troubleshooting a client issue, only to be pulled into a whirlwind of social media updates. It’s a chaotic dance of juggling multiple tasks, where focus seems like a distant dream.
\n\n\n\nThis constant hopscotch between projects made me realize I needed a change. That’s when I stumbled upon Nir Eyal’s “Indistractable.” This book has been out since 2019, but I’ve only now run into it. Well, better late than never.

It's more than just tips; it's a complete mindset shift towards becoming 'indistractable.' This book is an essential toolkit for entrepreneurs, empowering them to reclaim their time and enhance productivity.

Traction, as Eyal explains, pulls us towards what we want to do, while distractions pull us away from our goals.
\n\n\n\nBut here’s the kicker – it’s not just about external triggers. The real game-changer is managing internal triggers – those moments of discomfort that drive us towards distraction.
\n\n\n\nI don’t know about you, but I often treat my projects as if I’m a fast good restaurant; the instant I have a project, I want to work on it and get it done. But this often leads to me doing lots of things all at once.
\n\n\n\nI spent quite a bit of time reflecting on this concept and the one change I made was to devote about 5 minutes in setting up a few tasks as a project comes in and then scheduling it on my calendar.
\n\n\n\nThen comes the tech aspect. In our digital age, technology can be a double-edged sword – essential for business but also a significant source of distraction. “Indistractable” offers a balanced view, teaching us to use technology as a tool, not a distraction.
\n\n\n\nWhat really sets this book apart is its emphasis on debunking myths, like the idea of finite willpower. Eyal encourages a growth mindset, fostering a belief in continuous improvement and adaptability – critical traits for any entrepreneur.
\n\n\n\nI loved this section of the book because it allowed me to forgive myself for not always sticking to my plan. I think the key is to understand how you work and how you think and then create structures and systems that support your natural strenfths.
\n\n\n\nIn conclusion, “Indistractable” is more than just a book; it’s a mindset shift. It’s a practical, insightful guide that speaks directly to the entrepreneurial spirit. It doesn’t just teach you to avoid distractions; it equips you to embrace and overcome them, turning you into a more focused, productive entrepreneur.
\n\n\n\nFor my fellow entrepreneurs out there, this is a must-read. It’s not just about finding focus; it’s about reclaiming control over your time and energy. So, pick up “Indistractable,” and embark on a journey to a more focused, purpose-driven entrepreneurial life.

20 oproductivity tips to balance holiday hustle with time management tips and gift ideas for entrepreneurs.
As the holiday season rolls around, I often find myself caught in a juggling act that would make even the most seasoned circus performer sweat. Balancing the demands of running my own business with the festive cheer and family commitments is like trying to string Christmas lights in a blizzard. (I just did that – and yeah, it was just like that)
\n\n\n\nIt’s not just about keeping the business ball rolling; it’s also about not missing out on those priceless moments that make the holidays special. I’ve learned, sometimes the hard way, that the key to surviving (and thriving) during this time is all in the art of time management.
\n\n\n\nSo, I’ve reached out to my small business entrepreneur community and asked them how THEY keep it all together during the holidays. And 20 of them came through with time management tips that have helped me keep my sanity intact while wearing my entrepreneur hat.
\n\n\n\nAnd because ’tis the season of giving, I’m pairing each tip with some fun and thoughtful gift ideas to spread that holiday joy a little further. So, grab a cup of hot cocoa, get your shopping clicker ready and let’s dive into turning this holiday season into a masterclass of efficiency and cheer!
\n\n\n\nAs an entrepreneur, the art of prioritization and delegation becomes crucial during the holidays. It’s about identifying what you absolutely must do and empowering your team to handle the rest. This strategy creates breathing space for holiday enjoyment without compromising business efficiency.
\n\n\n\nOne of my favorite ways to decide on what I can delegate is to make a list of all the tasks that ONLY I can do. Anything else can be delegated.
\n\n\n\nHere’s another thing, you don’t have to have employees or a team. You can head over to Fivrr or Upwork and hire a freelancer to take care of that project that you’ve been putting on the back burner for months!
\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n \nBesides reducing the workload, delegation empowers my team to accept more task responsibilities.

This approach, perfect for the busy entrepreneur, ensures the most crucial tasks are completed first, leaving you with ample time for holiday cheer later in the day.
\n\n\n\nA priority pyramid is a tool used by entrepreneurs to prioritize tasks and identify which items should take precedence in their business. The pyramid is typically divided into four levels: Primary goals (or ‘big rocks’), Plans & Strategies, Specific Tasks, and Daily Activities. Primary goals are the most important and should be addressed first; they represent the long-term success of the business. Plans & Strategies are more detailed plans that may need additional research or resources to accomplish. Specific Tasks are actionable steps for implementing plans while Daily Activities consist of smaller tasks that make up larger projects. This framework helps entrepreneurs remain focused on the most important priorities while still making progress towards bigger goals.
\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n \nIt is important to maintain a clear separation between work and personal life; set aside specific time slots for each, avoiding the temptation to combine the two.
\n \n \n \n \n \n \n\n\n\nIn his book, The Rockefeller Habits, Verne Harnish provides an insightful look at the key habits that have helped propel John D. Rockefeller and other successful business leaders to the top of their respective industries. Through clear and concise advice, Harnish emphasizes the importance of focusing on doing the right things in order to achieve success. He argues that by honing in on what truly matters and efficiently executing these tasks, businesses are more likely to reach their desired objectives. The book offers a step-by-step guide on how to develop focus and discipline while still leaving room for innovation and creativity.
Overall, The Rockefeller Habits is an excellent resource for any business professional or entrepreneur wanting to hone their focus and reach higher levels of success. By providing practical steps on how to prioritize tasks and simplify decision making processes, Harnish’s book serves as a roadmap for anyone looking to maximize their potential for growth. With its emphasis on doing the right things right, The Rockefeller Habits is definitely worth a read!

Plan your schedule with this balance in mind. This method not only improves focus during work hours but also guarantees quality time with family and friends during the holidays.
\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n \nEstablish a holiday timetable that incorporates significant obligations alongside meaningful moments spent with cherished ones. Assign duties at the workplace to reliable members of the team to guarantee the continuity of operations in your absence.

\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n \nDo the math and realize that burnout costs more than “losing” a few days off work to the holidays. Learn to delegate! This is perhaps the hardest lesson I’ve had to learn as an entrepreneur. Leaving important decisions in someone else’s hands seems impossible, but neither you nor your business can survive without it. You’ve hired people, you’ve trained them, now trust them.

20 powerful tips on how to start mobile marketing for your business!
\n\n\n\nOne of the things that drives me nuts is how everyone talks about “mobile marketing” but no one really talks about the nitty gritty details of how to leverage mobile marketing to actually get customers and make it easy for them to interact with you.
\n\n\n\nSo first, let’s get real about mobile marketing.
\n\n\n\nLet’s talk about mobile engagement statistics.
\n\n\n\n
Every marketer can only dream of these kinds of engagement statistics. But hear this – as tempting as it might be to start blasting your customers with text messages, that’s the fastest way to make them resentful, angry, and opted out.
So what else can you do?
\n\n\n\nWell, there are tons of creative ways to use mobile marketing to actually help your customers become loyal, profitable customers.
\n\n\n\nThe best way to get this started is to start small and slowly add on additional mobile marketing strategies that serve both you and your customers.
\n\n\n\nPush notifications are alerts that are sent to a user’s mobile device to notify them of an event or update. They are used to deliver timely and relevant information to users even when they are not actively using an app.
\n\n\n\nPush notifications can be used for a variety of purposes such as providing updates on new content, reminding users of upcoming deadlines, alerting them of sales or discounts, and more.
\n\n\n\nWhen implementing push notifications into your mobile app, it’s important to make sure you use them sparingly and strategically.
\n\n\n\nBut be careful, too many notifications can cause users to become annoyed with your app and delete it altogether. It’s important that the messages sent are unique and relevant to the user’s interests or needs in order for them to be effective. Additionally, it is suggested that you give users options on how often they would like to receive push notifications from your app so they have control over which messages they receive.
\n\n\n\nSending appointment reminders via mobile is a great way to use mobile marketing. It helps businesses keep track of their customers and stay in contact with them, while also increasing customer satisfaction levels. Mobile appointment reminders can be scheduled quickly and easily, reaching customers almost instantly to ensure they don’t miss an important date or time.
\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n \nFor mobile marketing, I recommend leveraging push notifications. They provide a direct and immediate line of communication and encourage high user engagement.
Furthermore, these notifications can be tailored to user behavior and preferences to significantly boost their effectiveness. They also provide valuable data for further optimization of your marketing strategies.
Specifically, at TeamUp, we’ve seamlessly integrated push notifications into our mobile app. We dispatch timely reminders about scheduling their sessions and managing their customer data. This strategy has not only ramped up user engagement but also markedly enhanced our customer retention.
Sending push notifications on mobile is a great way to make a positive impact on your business, as it has been found that customers who receive these are three times more likely to open them than emails.
\n\n\n\nAccording to research, push notifications are the best way to increase customer engagement and urge customers back into an app or website.
\n\n\n\nAdditionally, 82% of consumers said they have enabled push notifications because they wanted timely updates from their favorite brands. Push notifications can be used to remind customers about special offers, discounts, updates, events and more – all of which can be powerful drivers of sales and repeat visits. This makes push notifications a great way for businesses to stay at top-of-mind for their customers and maximize their potential reach in the digital space.
\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n \nPush notifications are a great strategy because they have a 90% deliverability rate and a seven times higher click rate than email marketing. Recently, we were helping a client optimize their mobile marketing, and we implemented a push notification system for them that turned out to be the game changer. The client was in the fitness industry, and with push notifications, timing is key.
We sent out morning-motivation texts, midday checks, and an evening reminder. In a month, we noticed increased user engagement and the weekly user churn decreased by 4.9%. Push notifications are effective because they facilitate a direct communication channel with users and allow you to send targeted messages.
They also maintain engagement, and unlike emails, they are not overlooked or remain unopened. The trick is to send personalized messages according to user behavior, creating a sense of urgency and a clear value proposition.
Location based marketing is a form of mobile marketing that uses the location of a person or device to send them tailored messages. Location-based services (LBS) use either the GPS system on a smartphone or Wi-Fi network connections to pinpoint a user’s exact location. Businesses can then send out offers and promotions to customers in their local vicinity, based on their locations.
\n\n\n\nLocation-based marketing works by targeting people who are near your business’s physical location. It allows businesses to reach out to potential customers at the right place and time with incentives that will encourage them to visit the store in person. Mobile applications such as Foursquare and Yelp are popular tools used by businesses for this purpose, as they allow marketers to target consumers within a certain radius of their store’s physical location.
\n\n\n\nBest practices for entrepreneurs include:
\n\n\n\nI recommend one strategy for optimizing mobile marketing, which is location-based targeting. This allows you to target your potential customers more effectively. Different methods can be used to target your audience.
One is geofencing, where a virtual fence is created around a geographical location and push notifications can be sent to mobile users when they enter or leave the targeted region.
The second one is beacon technology, which involves the installation of small devices that can send marketing messages via Bluetooth whenever a user is in its range. IP address targeting can also be used to estimate the user’s location.
Fahad Khan, Digital Marketing Manager, Ubuy India
Geo-fencing is a mobile marketing tool that uses GPS or RFID technology to create virtual boundaries around a certain geographical area.
\n\n\n\nWhen customers with smartphones enter the geo-fenced area, they are sent location specific messages and notifications. This could include store promotions, discounts, product information and more. Geo-fencing allows marketers to target their campaigns to a specific audience based on their location.
\n\n\n\nIt can be used in conjunction with other marketing strategies to create an effective omnichannel approach for reaching customers. Geo-fencing also provides analytics that allow marketers to track customer actions and trends in order to better inform future campaigns.
\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n \nIntegrating location-based messaging into a retail client’s mobile app drove a 26% increase in foot traffic and a 15% lift in in-store sales by delivering personalized promotions to opted-in users near stores.
It also provided invaluable locale-based customer insights.
Optimizing mobile apps for search engines helps you get more customers because it increases the visibility of your app in search engine results. By optimizing your app with relevant keywords and an engaging description, users are more likely to discover your app when they are searching for related topics.
\n\n\n\nAdditionally, better rankings within search engine result pages (SERPs) make it easier for potential customers to find your app organically. As a result, you get more qualified leads and higher conversion rates from these organic visitors.
\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n \nYour mobile app will automatically gain attention from potential customers if it is well-optimized, not only for search engines but for app stores as well. This approach is quite similar to optimizing content for websites, which helps them gain more traffic.
Personalization in mobile marketing is a powerful tool for businesses to reach their customers and potential customers on a deeper level than ever before.
\n\n\n\nBy collecting and analyzing customer data, you can tailor your mobile marketing campaigns to create an experience that is tailored to individuals’ interests, preferences, and behaviors.
\n\n\n\nThis ensures that each customer receives messages with content that speaks directly to them, rather than a one-size-fits-all approach. It also helps businesses better understand their customers’ needs and wants, allowing them to better serve their target audience. With the right personalization strategies in place, mobile marketing can be an effective way for businesses to win new customers and keep loyal ones engaged.
\n\n\n\nPersonalized notifications in mobile marketing are messages that are tailored to individual users based on their unique preferences, behaviors, and interests. These notifications allow marketers to deliver more relevant and targeted content. For example, a retail store might send an email notification highlighting a sale on products that a customer has previously purchased or browsed.
\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n \nDirect contact with your mobile app users can be established by sending timely and relevant updates and notices, which in turn creates more engagement with your brand.
Design the notifications in such a way that they are more personalized by considering their behavior, interests, and demographics. Hence, they become less annoying and more effective.
AI personalization in mobile marketing uses artificial intelligence to analyze customer behavior and data, predict their needs and preferences, and tailor messages to individual interests.
\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n \nI highly recommend leveraging the power of personalization through AI and machine learning to optimize mobile marketing strategies.
AI-driven personalization tools analyze user data in real-time to deliver tailored content, product recommendations and offers to each individual user. This approach is incredibly effective in a mobile context, where user engagement is fleeting yet frequent.
By presenting personalized experiences, you significantly increase the relevance and impact of your marketing efforts, leading to higher engagement and conversion rates.
Implementing AI for personalization requires an initial investment in technology and data analytics. However, the ROI in terms of increased customer satisfaction and loyalty is substantial.
It’s not just about sending a message; it’s about sending the right message to the right person at the right time. This level of precision in mobile marketing can set your business apart in today’s competitive digital landscape.
Using SEO and analytics is a powerful way to maximize the success of your mobile marketing efforts. With SEO, you can create content that is optimized for mobile search engines, such as Google and Bing, which will help improve your visibility in the digital space. Additionally, by utilizing analytics tools like Google Analytics, you can gain insight into how people are using your app or website and make improvements accordingly. This data can also be used to inform decisions about what types of content to produce in order to best engage with your target audience. With both SEO and analytics working together, you can optimize and improve your mobile marketing campaigns for maximum success.
\n\n\n\nSpeeding up your website is a smart move that really pays off, especially when you’re focusing on reaching people on their phones.
\n\n\n\nWhen your site loads quickly, visitors have a better time browsing and are more likely to stick around. This also means they’re more likely to buy something or sign up for your newsletter. Plus, your ads work better too, getting more clicks. Search engines like Google also prefer faster sites, so you’re more likely to show up when people search.
\n\n\n\nAnd a bonus? You might even save money on your ads. In short, a faster website makes your online marketing more effective and can even be kinder to your budget.
\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n \nSpeed should always be at the top of your mind. Every user expects a seamless experience, but even more so with mobile, where users will quickly find another brand or put their phone down if your content doesn’t load within a second or two. If you aren’t optimizing loading speed on mobile campaigns, you won’t be able to maximize your returns.
Choose ad and marketing networks that are lean and quick to load, then optimize your marketing assets so they will load just as quickly on lower-bandwidth devices in low-service areas. You want to create ads that reach remote users as well as they do those in high-service cities with speedy 5G connections.
A quick load speed won’t just increase user experience—it also makes you more valuable to Google for an SEO boost.
Diving into the world of mobile marketing can feel a bit like exploring a new city without a map. That’s where tools like SimilarWeb come in handy.
\n\n\n\nThink of it as your GPS for navigating the digital landscape. This tool is fantastic for understanding how people use websites and apps on their phones. It’s like having a behind-the-scenes look at what works and what doesn’t in mobile marketing.
\n\n\n\nPlus, with everything moving towards a mobile-first approach, including apps and websites that act like apps, having a tool like SimilarWeb is more important than ever. It’s not just about checking out your own site; it’s also about keeping an eye on what your competitors are up to. This makes it a must-have for crafting a smart, effective mobile marketing strategy that really connects with your audience.
\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n \nUnderstanding how users navigate a site on various devices is crucial before we begin strategizing. What makes this tool particularly useful is its integration with apps.
Understanding your audience is key in mobile marketing, and there are some great tools out there to help with this.
\n\n\n\nFirst, there’s Firebase by Google. This tool works for both Android and iPhone apps, giving you a broad look at how people are using your app. It helps you see what’s working and what isn’t, so you can make your app better and more user-friendly.
\n\n\n\nThen, there’s Google Analytics for mobile. This tool is all about digging deep into your app’s data. It shows you how people are interacting with your app, what they like, and what they don’t. This info is gold for making your app even more appealing to your users.
\n\n\n\nUXCam is another fantastic tool. It’s used by some big names in the mobile world and helps you make decisions based on solid data. It’s like having an expert by your side, guiding you on how to improve your app based on what users actually want.
\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n \nWe prioritize this by integrating analytics into every campaign, allowing us to make data-driven decisions. This strategy enables us to personalize the user experience, tailor content, and adjust our tactics in real time based on actual user data.
Moreover, this approach helps in identifying our most effective channels and optimizing the allocation of our budget.
The rise of mobile technology has created a wealth of opportunities for businesses to connect with their target audiences. With the right strategy, mobile marketing can be an effective tool to reach more people, build relationships and generate leads. By leveraging the right technology, engaging content and unique customer experiences, business owners can create a successful mobile marketing strategy that will help them achieve their goals. It’s important to remember to keep up with new trends and stay ahead of the competition. With a well-thought-out plan and the right tools, anyone can make mobile marketing work for their business.
